My opinion on the dee. Take your favorite 2 rooks, promote 'em and play'em.
Getting 2 of 3 rookies transitioned to full-time NHL play is a tough enough task to take on. There are no guarantees of success transitioning to the toughest league in the world, no matter how long we fans have watched or waited or anticipated their eventual success.
Once (and if/when) 2 of them are "over the hump" so to speak, then the 3rd can come play too.
There's just no need to "go all in" in time for the first puck drop in October. Having 2 of them on the NHL roster is a massive step in itself, and it's very possible we'll see all 3 on the roster by season's end, especially if they prove themselves in the NHL rather than just being the highly touted prospects they are now.
Also. Doing it the "slow way" does so without any risk to the short-term goal of moving the team forward in capability and building the new team make-up (transitioning 2 or 3? both fulfill the goal), as well as the longer-term goal of a Cup win (same again).
Is there any upside in putting all 3 in the show immediately? Yes. IF all of them immediately, or quickly, prove ready for an NHL game AND do not inhibit the development of either themselves, or their teammates who are relying on them to provide crucial pieces of the puzzle to also get better. Flyers have a lot of new elements to test out...no need to get too crazy here.
When all is said and done...I am happy to try 2 plus AMac to start this experiment, and see where it goes. Prove first...then act. There's absolutely no question that when the experiment is finally over, AMac will be gone. It's just a matter of time. Once the rooks prove in the show they are better than AMac, then risk-adverse GM Ron is gonna pull that trigger!
