Filppula on PP1 over Lindblom is garbage.

Coots on left wall of PP is garbage.

In what world go you think putting a passer in Schenn's shooting spot is a good move?? Makes no sense to me.

Lindblom should have been an easy plug n play into that spot.

To be fair Lindblom didn't show much on the PP1 so far in preseason to say he would stay in that spot all year :dunno:

They didn't start practicing special teams until today so who knows what the coach is thinking.

CUTS:
Andrew Macdonald (waived him once... do it again.)
Brandon Manning (do I need to explain this...)

F - Veccione
F - Matt Read (ur time is done)

You do need to explain the Manning cut. He's perfectly fine as a #6/#7. I'm with you on AMac, but Manning is just not as bad as everyone makes him out to be.

I'm still on the fence with three rookies starting on D. I know everyone is excited to bring the future to the present, but I just don't see our conservative leadership going that route. When is the last time a team started three rookie D at the beginning of the season? That would be interesting to research, as I'm curious as to the answer.

I mean having the guy in the middle as just a shooter is part of what gibs them so hard from the right side. Having someone who can make a quick pass to go from (for example) Ghost-Filp-Jake is a look they didn't have with Schenn.

True. Me personally i wish they would take Jake off the wall and replace him with Provorov. I feel like Jake would be better down low on the PP. He is a great passer in that spot but his shot/scoring from that side is a downgrade. I feel Provy would give you the same level of playmaking ability and a threat to score from there. It seems like they don't want to change up the strategy. I thought we would see some changes with a new coach. It's still once again too early to draw conclusions.

If they're moving Voracek out of that spot then I'd love to see Ghost there.

Explanation: He's terrible.

Flip doesn't even have a good release or shot in general. To be able to do what Hartnell and Schenn did on that spot you should have a good shot at the very least.

Well, lets see how it plays out.

If that's what they want, then Patrick is the logical choice. He can shoot and pass, and has the size to play in traffic

He assisted our last PP goal..

The trigger man isnt going to seem like hes doing much when the other guys arent getting set up and moving the puck well to create space for him. Hes the best choice for that spot AINEC.

Hextall will make some moves, but as usual, no hints will surface, and when it happens, it will be a surprise.
But that's how he gets value, never gets pushed into a corner.

True. Ghost would be a threat from that spot. Then you have Provorov in that QB spot.

The lines in camp aren't really much of a indicator of how it will play out in the season because lines eventually end up being changed around throughout the season anyways.

I agree he is the best player for that spot in terms of his skillset. He would do fine in Simmonds spot as well. I want to see how much more fluid they are after practicing special teams. The PP hasn't looked too great so far in the preseason but i just chalk that up to a lack of work on the units.

Lindblom got taken off the PP in the middle of last game and now he's a spare on a potential 4th line and "3rd unit" PP. Makes you wonder a little.

I like that Hagg and Sanheim are paired with the two fixtures of the top 4.
Yeah, but then Ghost is paired with Manning...
Not sure what they are trying to get out of that Morin-MacDonald pair.

I noticed that too. I wonder if he will be playing on the lower lines to start the season or he will be in the AHL.. We will know in a few days.

There are two different "games" going on in camp.

One is Hakstol (and his assistant coaches on STs) trying to figure out the right combinations for the season.

The second is Hextall not wanting to signal who is out of favor and can be bought cheaply.

I suspect nothing matters until the last exhibition game when Haskstol will want his final groups to play together to prepare for the season.

I still say Lindbloms basically a lock. As you can see with Giroux on the wing, this is a practice of just trying out stuff, so I'm not too worried about Lindbloms practice spot right now.
