They are playing shit hockey. This team is far too deep and talented to have to "find ways to win" against the bottom feeders of the league, which usually they have failed to do. Any coach, including Quinn, could take this squad to the playoffs easily. Even the recent worry that they might miss out is a sign of sub-par coaching.

Too bad they can't win against teams like Vegas, Colorado, NJ, and Toronto. Seriously, are you even a fan?

K'Andre's goal was a thing of beauty but his overall game has REALLY started to get back to his playoff level lately. The last couple weeks he's really looked good. Schneider has looked good too frequently, even considering the shit he's had to carry. Miller-Schneider should be a pair for the time being, Schneider is legitimately better than Trouba right now. Shelter Trouba on the third pair until he's back to his level.

Finally they scored enough goals in a Halak start to overcome his two inevitable softies.

If I'm Drury I look to try and lock Chytil and Miller into fair-ish deals with decent term ASAP. If you can get the two of them signed to 4 years each for under 10m combined AAVs you need to do it.

I don't love Goodrow on that line but it's hard to really argue against him when he's putting up numbers. Gallant's comments lately make it seem like he knows the best spot for Goodrow is anchoring a line in the bottom 6 so I feel like we're going to end up there eventually, whether it's Kravtsov taking his place or a deadline acquisition (more likely) we'll have to see.

The 4th line was very good and deserved a bump in minutes tonight. Goodrow was great tonight and the team was on the PK 4x. He led the team in minutes. Seems right.

Some nights it makes sense to complain about lack of ice time for the kids. Not tonight. Not at all.

Good performance. 79 and 21 were brilliant. Good stuff from 10. Mixed reviews on JH. Poor Kakko. Hope 8 turns the corner with the monkey now off his back. 5 has matched expectations.

All those unforgiveable losses earlier have really lowered the bar around here I guess.

we'll go real far riding Vesey and Goodrow. We're really set up for success.

Lowered what bar? How low of a bar do you need to be happy to be happy with a 6 game winning streak including 4 games against some of the best teams in the NHL and another one against a strong playoff team from last year? What a f***ing pathetic take.

Kreider-Trocheck-Vesey is legitimately a terrific middle six shutdown line, I hope the rest of the lineup can figure it out enough for that line to remain intact 5v5. That line is 3 players who just totally fit together style wise.

This team, for all their frustrating play this season, has enough talent to be a legitimate contender. It's just about finding the right combinations. This Trocheck line is a legitimately good line for the top 9, now it's about piecing the rest of the players (and whatever inevitable acquisitions come in) to piece together two other good lines. They're stilted overall because some of the combinations aren't optimized but it will get there.

I'm optimistic they'll figure it out. As long as the D continues to round into form and Igor plays at the level he's capable of, this is a legitimately good team. Miller rounding into forms is huge. Schneider has grown massively as a player and he's just 21 I feel like his growth has flown majorly under the radar.

Add one more top 9 level winger and upgrade 3LD and we're cooking with gas.

So why isn’t that Kakko’s goal? Puck dies in the slot unless Kakko touches it, and it’s called a goal because of the penalty against Kakko.
I was focused on Kakko, but my guess of what happened is that they didn’t award the goal due to the penalty. The penalty was completely coincidental.

While the penalty was taken, the net was knocked off, and Lindgren must have been in a position to score. So they awarded Lindgren a goal although he didn’t touch the puck, and wiped off the penalty.

63.2 Minor Penalty - A minor penalty for delay of game shall be imposed
(iv) On any player who delays the game by deliberately displacing a goal post from its normal position. The Referee shall stop play immediately when the offending team gains control of the puck;
NOTE: If a player deliberately displaces a goal post from its normal position when an opponent has an imminent scoring opportunity on an open net, a goal may be awarded by the Referee (see 63.7).
63.7 Awarded Goal - In the event that the goal post is displaced, either deliberately or accidentally, by a defending player, prior to the puck crossing the goal line between the normal position of the goalposts, the Referee may award a goal.
In order to award a goal in this situation, the goal post must have been displaced by the actions of a defending player, the attacking player must have an imminent scoring opportunity prior to the goal post being displaced, and it must be determined that the puck would have entered the net between the normal position of the goal posts.
If the goal post is deliberately displaced by a goalkeeper during the course of a “breakaway,” a goal will be awarded to the non-offending team.
When the goal post has been displaced deliberately by the defending team when their goalkeeper has been removed for an extra attacker thereby preventing an impending goal by the attacking team, the Referee shall award a goal to the attacking team.
The goal frame is considered to be displaced if either or both goal pegs are no longer in their respective holes in the ice, or the net has come completely off one or both pegs, prior to or as the puck enters the goal.

We all like to complain about Goodrow on that line but he gets put there, for better or worse, and he does nothing but fill in admirably. I don't want him there either, but the guy has put up points while being there. Kakko, Lafreniere and Kravtsov get minutes there and don't put up numbers. I want them there over Goodrow too, but I'm not going to get mad about him being there if he's actually contributing. I'll save my anger for when he's playing there and sucking (which he was a few games ago btw). Oh well, after Gallant's comments about "knowing where he really wants Goodrow" I'm assuming he knows where Goodrow should be in his lineup and he'll be where he should when it actually matters. Goodrow is doing an admirable job of filling that slot for the time being and I'm not going to let my imagination get the best of me assuming he'll be there forever.

People will complain about something. They could have won 10-0 and be on a 20 game win streak. It just doesn't matter.

It matters if the kids aren’t getting going and another scoreless game has everyone restless because we all know we aren’t winning the Cup without the kids doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Some say, we played like shit. Some say, it shouldn't have been that hard [to win]. But this is the NHL my friends. There are no easy opponents. There are no games with perfect execution. Turnovers are a part of the game. It's how you keep them to a minimum that puts you on top. And this is exactly why we are on a 6 game winning streak.

I thought Laf had two goals in about 4 periods of play with Zib before he was taken off that line.
