Great for Flint’s Riley Piercey. We have Red Wings tickets for tomorrow night vs Dallas. This is so great for Traverse City. Stopped by to pick-up my tickets and talked to 1/2 dozen Columbus fans who drove up for the weekend.

That’s actually a little scary. There’s a chance they lose Othmann which would be a huge loss. If they were to also lose Piercey to the AHL or ECHL….that could almost change my perspective on whether this is a buy or sell season. One goal? Two goals? No problem. Four? Signing him to a Pro contract has to be crossing their mind. Which would be great for Riley. I think he deserves it and will earn a Pro contract…..I just would be happy to see that happen AFTER an OHL Championship run.

Windsor can relate possibly losing Wyatt Johnston and Mathew Maggio, with Johnston same age as Othmann and Maggio same age/situation as Piercey.
Maggio and Johnston combined for 105 goals, and 266 points last season including playoffs while Othmann and Piercey combined for 89 goals and 189 points though Flint played 7 less games in the playoffs after being eliminated by Windsor.
Would think Flint would deal Cranley if both Othmann and Piercey both don't return, while Windsor may consider dealing both Onuska and Medina if Johnston and Maggio both dont return either.
My guess is both teams eventually get all 4 guys back and get a chance to meet in the playoffs again.
It's clear these 2 teams dont like each other makes for some fun times.

Piercey’s playing his season Flint…straight from his mouth

I mean, I'm sure that's his plan right now, he doesn't have a contract with anyone.

Like Savard said tho, if the Wings or someone else decide to sign him, he could end up in the ECHL or AHL. Maybe he has a Keppen like situation and shows up mid-season, but a 4 goal performance is going to draw some eyes for sure.

If he’s signed I’ll put money on it he’s still in Flint…there’s no room in Grand Rapids

Is there in Toledo though? I don’t think he’s quite AHL ready right now. I’m fairly confident that no matter what he’ll be in Flint this season but with performances like that you can’t rule out anything. If he’s here and healthy? I think he has a monster season as probably the most feared power forward in the league. I’d have to look at everybody but I think with the new additions and returnees Flint is lining up the most punishing forward group in the league. D depth needs to be addressed and the goalie question answered. That’s why I suggested throwing almost all they have in the pics cupboard at London. Add Mailloux and Brochu and let’s do this.

if he’s signed I think there’s a better chance it’s elsewhere. The Wings have so many draft picks that may or may not take up their limit on signed contracts. The rare player the Wings send to Toledo are players that don’t do well in GR. I’m sure anything is possible and would love for him to be in Detroit’s Organization but I’m not holding my breath. I think it would be best if he came back to Flint…have a great season..and sign after the season is over.

The Firebirds forward group pretty much has it all. Though the league’s likely most punishing team will be the Petes’ and most physically imposing the Battalion.

And TC I'm not trying to jump on you here, but I just went through the 8 pages of the off-season thread and no one ever said Riley should be the guy traded and the odd man out.

Everyone has preferred Piercey over Panwar, and Deline over Terry from the looks of it. Gonna be sad to see Panwar and Terry leave, just not enough spots for them. Was mentioned once or twice to trade for a non-OA goalie, and we could have kept 3 of the 4.

My son who is 8, and I left after the 2nd period of the Detroit prospects vs Dallas prospects game here in Traverse City with the score 2-2. It was an absolutely packed standing room only crowd with a ton of scouts. I was at the one concession stand nearly as much as watching the game. Piercy was all over the ice tonight and had the Red Wings first or second shot of the game and was in a fight that he won in the 2nd. Heard several nearby fans, including 4 Dallas fans talking about “that Piercey kid. Lombardi played good too. Spoke with several Firebird fans who made it to TC. Fun night. Got home and then fried the rainbow trout and bass he caught in Lake Michigan earlier today with his grandma. Also, not trying to pick on you MJ5, but I wish I had time to review the last 8 pages to make a point.

The 3 amigos are alive and well. PS: Ohl Fan and dirty 12 each originally posted projected rosters without Piercey on it. Sorry to disprove you MJ5…..not really!

I would not have projected a roster without some sort of disclaimer somewhere stating Piercey is the #1 OA on the firebirds roster. I do believe Piercey is best as a RW; and if not playing that position, the firebirds might be best served taking the nice haul in a trade and playing Terry or Panwar

OHL Fan - Flint Firebirds 2022 Off-season Thread
Piercey is listed. That's his first post about lineups, so he "originally" included him, so you are wrong there.

Dirty - Flint Firebirds 2022 Off-season Thread implies Flint will carry 4 OA's to start. So "originally" you are wrong again. On July 31st he changes his tune slightly, but justifies a possible trade partner here. Flint Firebirds 2022 Off-season Thread

Also by your mentality and lack of information, you implied Flint would be trading your favorite player Orthmann. Right here since you left him out of your lineup.

Well guys there you have it, TC thinks we are trading Orthmann and will be rebuilding this season.

Buckle up boys, going to be a long year.
