Oh my God. What a moron. All those picks for……Nolan Dann? Way to go Dent. Empty those picks out. Dann is totally gonna close the gap and move you up in the standings with the teams that were already ahead of you before adding guys like Shane Wright and Ethan Del Mastro and Ryan Winterton.
He took his horrible resume as a GM and added “wasted picks while being the only GM in 22-23 to get fleeced by the Ice Dogs” to it.
Dent the coach - I'd give him a B
Dent the GM - I'd give him a F-
He won't be here next year.

For real. Bring Barclay Branch back. Holy shit. Even as a coach…..he had this group in 6th place before all the trades. Maybe last year was a lot more about Luke Cavallin and a little less about Ted Dent. He couldn’t have possibly had a worse season as a GM.

Dann didn’t score 29 goals his first full year by mistake. Price is big but potential is there. Based off his performance this year to date, you’d think it wouldn’t cost THAT much. Being on a team like Niagara that appears to managed by a child, certainly doesn’t help. How do you have confidence in yourself if you or no one else has confidence in the entire organization you play for?
Overpayment at the moment but it could work out. Dann finds his scoring touch again and he comes back as an OA next year. Could easily be flipped to recoup some picks if he finds his groove again.

You don’t pay that much for POTENTIAL in a kid half way through his 19yo season. I know Dann could possibly get back to or even surpass his PPG potential but this cleary to ANYone with ANY brains became a sell season for Flint this week. To waste assets like this puts them right up there with Niagara and Erie in stupid moves this season.
Kolyochonok was 3rd Import for Flint and he could have been had for less as London had to let go.
Popovich good pick up but traded with Best Buddy George Burnett in Guelph, so that was a given. Lalonde was a bust, Tucker good pick up, and Piercey was so so.
Othmann went 2nd because others wouldnt report.
Just my opinions on the above.

Not accurate. Koly was London's 2nd import. Flint could have had the 3rd import for free (Guskov) but worked out a deal with London to get their 2nd import and compensated London through the overpay for Rowe.
Lets agree to disagree. London let go the wrong Import and Flint could have claimed off waivers or signed as a Free Agent for alot less than what was traded to London.

How does what you are saying even make sense? London's GM made a huge mistake and waived the wrong import and Flint's GM made a huge mistake with a big overpay for a bust player (Rowe)? And both transactions went down at exactly the same time? Might want to reconsider your stance. Or not. Up to you.

I remember Flint winless as a bottom feeder and having first dibs to claim him of waivers. Remember thinking "that was a great acquisition for nothing".

Only as it turned out we didn't really get him for nothing. We traded for Lucas Rowe sending London a conditional 3rd. We eventually sent Rowe to Kingston for a 12th round pick. Officially the two moves were unrelated but everyone knows what really happened there. Still it was a bargain for Koly but it wasn't for nothing. London needed to clear an import slot, Hunter by all accounts wanted Rowe gone. Apparently he wasn't averse to being brutally blunt to his coach about what he thought of him. I’d take Koly over Guskov any day and Rowe was a 1st round pick of the Knights (like Rolofs, Testa etc that were traded for decent returns also) who never quite lived up to the hype. If there’s a deal to be angry about it sure isn’t the Kolyachonok / Rowe transaction. Burnett got players to come here. Branch got players to come here. Maybe not elite stars at the deadline but Kole Sherwood, Cody Morgan, Tyler Tucker, Connor Roberts, Riley McCourt, Fedor Gordeev, Everett Clark, Sahil Panwar, Nicolas Mattinen, Mauricio Collella, Riley Piercey, Owen Lalonde, Anthony Popovich, Tag Bertuzzi, Zack Terry hell, even Lucas Rowe all were 1st-2nd round OHL picks. Many with NTC’s, were NHL drafted or were more than serviceable OHL players. Part of being a GM in this league is recruiting. Dent has failed on all levels across the board since being named GM. After all the deals this week Ted Dent looked at opposing rosters, then his own and his thought was “I need to add Nolan Dann for 6 picks” ?!?!? That’s either A. Sheer stupidity or B. Insanity. Neither are traits you look for in a GM. Dann had 29 goals and was nearly a point per game player last year. Niagara paid 2 2nd’s and a 5th for him. Half a year and 6 goals later Dent gives up 6 high picks for him? I hope the crowd erupts in “Fire Dent” chants before the year is over.
Castle can score off the wing, but could not help Flint’s 4th line. The RW are; Piercey, Hayes, Pitre, (& sometimes Kressler?)

It’s messed up but someone earlier posted something along the lines of “If you can do better, put your resume in.” Well. I could do better without a doubt. I’m reasonably confident that a very good number of posters on here would have done a better job of GM’ing this group this year. It would be extremely difficult to do worse.
Six picks in the first four rounds for Nolan Dann. Six. He slots into 11th place in team scoring and has 0 points while going -7 in his first two games.
It’s a good thing Dent didn’t sell at the deadline. The Firebirds would be losing every game and what would you do with 12-15 more picks in the first 4-5 rounds or a bunch of picks and another ‘05 or two?
I was just thinking that it's the absolute pinnacle of irony that the Flint fanbase (rightly) wants Rolf to fire a coach. What a difference a few years makes.
