Maybe we didn’t see Kitchener’s best, but I’m really surprised they were buyers. They’re like Flint with less offense. Big, physical, they had nice possession at some point, but they didn’t throw the puck at the net much. They’re 7th and seems like they’d have a hard time passing even us in the standings.

I believe that we only have 1 card left. I might be mistaken, but I think that means that any multiple player trades (or any trade above 1 player) can't happen.
Y’know? My first thought was you didn’t know what you were talking about. Other teams have surely made more moves than Flint. I went and looked at it though and I think you might be right. I believe….I’m not certain…that it’s 30 cards. Right? I’m assuming you counted 29 players have played for Flint this year? If we’re correct, the only thing that might give us 2 cards is Boe Piroski only playing one game. I know there are some odd rules around cards sometimes and they might be lucky there. I know there’s A and B cards and I’d assume Boe is B carded and it might not count towards the 30.

Well, the concern with their fan base is they’re not physical enough. They haven’t been good so far and with a bunch of new additions I’m not shocked to see them struggling to gel. They’ll get better but I definitely wouldn’t consider them one of the favorites to come out of the West. I’m pretty confident that org is gonna regret buying this year and a lot of Ranger posters seem to think it might have been a mistake even going so far as to half jokingly suggest there’s still time for them to pivot and sell too. I know what Dent was initially trying to do with this roster and I certainly like the thought process but they need better defensive play from the forwards, D and goalies and they need a lot more finish out of their forward group. The Birds are built to give a team or two a handful in a 7 game series but without another couple dynamic forwards they won’t get past 3 teams in the West and isn’t that the goal? Winning two rounds was a much needed success last year. That’s been done now though and the measuring stick for true success with the franchise should now be an OHL title or at least a Finals appearance when it’s a go for it Year. This was a go for it Year. It’s not too late to sidestep that, get some (more) playoff expierience and go for it next year or the year after. Or even both with as much draft pick capital and talent they have.

I thought we were at 28. So we had 2.

If we are selling we don't need a ton of players back. If we can find 1 16-17 year old great. But load up on some picks.

I think it is 28 cards used as well.

If they have 2 cards, that deal OMG proposed looks like exactly the type of deal Dent should be aiming at. London still has picks and a player or two to move as does Barrie. Prices have been fairly high this year and with those 3 teams still looking to add, who’s left other than Wright and Mintyukov? Put Lombardi and Kuzmin up. They can survive with 7 remaining D but unless Assinewai is coming back they’ll want a forward being returned to fill out the roster. Like I said, going into next year in the West? I don’t fear Erie or the Soo and Sarnia, Kitchener, Windsor are gutted. Guelph and London will still be ok but not nearly in the position Flint would be in after a Lombardi/Kuzmin deal. It’d really just be Saginaw and Owen Sound as the threats in the West and Flint would definetly have more buying power than OS. Probably Saginaw too.

I don't mean this in a bad/douchey way & maybe he has some master plan, but i am just genuinely shocked at how Dent played this season. You guys for so many were the conference favourite going into the season. Team coming off G7 of the conf. finals with so many of your best guys returning.

Obviously, the Othmann stuff he may have had no control, but it was still an atrocious return, especially when you see how outrageous the prices have been. Could tell he wanted to make this big bad defence by adding Guryev & Smith but both lack hockey IQ & are prone to errors, missed assignments. Shipped out Petrovskiy who looked like a staple on your blue line for years to come & D'Amato who's a really solid, underrated Dman who has 2 more years left. So it made your backend much slower & much more prone to mistakes.

I would've bet good money at least one of Arcuri, Harrison, Pastujov, Zhilkin, Bloom would end up a Firebird to help replace Othmann's production & now we are hours out from the deadline & you guys have been quieter than anybody! There's pretty much nobody left to add of significance so now you may become sellers?? I just cant wrap my head around it, honestly.

Deadline is tomorrow. They haven't made a trade since November 30th.
Two years in a row. Nothing. I mean. They cannot possibly in any way whatsoever think that’s how you find success in the OHL. Hell, even Kitchener is going for it. At the time I understood why he didn’t make a move last year and thought it was the right decision. I now see that we were both wrong and they should have added a forward or two and a Perrott/Jack Thompson since Xhekaj was basically Hamilton only. For sure would have put them in the Finals if not the Memorial Cup. This year he moves Petrovski and D’Amato which clearly show they intended to buy and then they sit on the fence while EVERY single piece moves off the board? More than a few at prices I think they could have and should have outbid. Now that they backed themselves into a corner and have to switch gears…..are they stupid or don’t have balls? It’s one of the two. There are no other answers. Screw the ignorant casual fans who’ll get upset at trading Lombardi/Kuzmin/Kressler. They’ll come back around when Flint is contending next year. Hell I’m gonna be angry about it too but there is this common sense thing that kinda overrides that. Rolf? $$$? You can get one, maybe 2 playoff rounds this year and next. Or you can get one this year and 3-4 next year. Maybe set yourselves up for 3-4 the year after too.

I mean nobody, absolutely NOBODY wants to see those kids traded, hell Kressler and Lombardi are two of my favorite Firebirds ever and my kid loves to hear “Rock Me Amadeus” after his goals but give those kids a chance at an OHL title and set this club up for everyone who’ll be back next year. As you can see, I’m sure Dent was handcuffed having no 16yo’s he could trade but he should have known that was a possibility when he was drafting Kaden. Who by the way has looked like a completely different player on the top line the last few games. I figured he’d top out as a halfway decent 2C with a lot of shutdown potential but everything about his game has looked light years different this week. Riley looks like he’s finally coming around too. Just wish Dent had got them some help this year. Now it’s time to get the returnees some help for the next year or two.

Maybe London circles back for consolation prize(s)?

Your 2024 2nds spend jsut as good next year as this year!
The 2020 draft was the weakest of the last four drafts for the colts imo. Their 2024-2nds might end up being used to compliment 2021-23 drafts

They can push them for add for a future 2nd and 3rd.

Doesn’t matter. They can manage their assets. Ottawa did it last year.

Look for Flint to make some moves tomorrow. They can't squander an opportunity to gain some additional picks with some of their vets. They just won't be able to compete with Sarnia, London, Windsor or possibly Kitchener.

Ottawa hung on to 7th by 1 pt last year? Barrie is 0.630 without a game from Clarke. They have to at least add a player to make three good lines?
