100%

But as a 3rd or 4th line C, that will be a big help. I wouldn't expect much from him offensively at all the rest of this year. Should help a bit at the dot tho.
Well he has been practicing with the team for quite some time now. Not getting back until now was purely a PT thing. They smartly decided to not bring him back until his hand strength and range of motion was 100%. Pretty important for a faceoff specialist. I suspect the last 5 regular season games will be enough to get his wheels rolling.

It’ll be big. Instead of 16yo Ethan Hay or Amadeus Lombardi checking Wyatt Johnston and Luke Evangelista and Tye Kartye it’ll be one of the best defensive centers in the game and now Ethan Hay etc will be tasked with shutting down their 2nd line. It should theoretically also improve one of if not the best PK in the league. What they’ve had going works pretty well though....

I thought 7 PM on Sunday was a pretty strange game time. Apparently someone else thought so as well.

Hay now has 4 short handed goals, I'd say the PK is working well. For a Rookie that is pretty good, he is 5th overall in the league for shorties.

For a 3rd round rookie that’s fabulous. The kid impresses me every night with multiple aspects of his game. His progression this year has been remarkable. Nathaniel Day looks like the real deal in his limited time too. Dent has no fear pairing up Bertucci and Petrovski and playing them against top 6 forwards either. Pitters probably deserves ice time but he’s 16yo #5 so they can’t slot him in often. It’s a really good core of youth on this team. I’m not sure one of them develops into a absolute superstar Drysdale/McTavish type but I’m not concerned about talent in the near future.

Well looks like Niagara has stuck their foot in it again. Is it just me or did the league give the Burke family progeny a lighter punishment then they gave Christenson for basically the exact same violation of the OHL Harassment & Abuse / Diversity Policy? There are grumblings among the fanbase of a league bias against US based teams in areas of discipline and scheduling and not doling out equal punishments for the same transgressions just adds to questions.

‘A very sad day for the Burke family’ after OHL suspends Niagara IceDogs GM, head coach for at least two years

I'm just disappointed our favorite Saginaw fan isn't all over the Niagara thread breaking news for them. Shocker there.

It’s you, in addition to several homers suggesting unfair treatment by the OHL on-ice and off-ice officials towards ‘their team’.

So what the Burkes said is not the exact same league policy violation as what Christenson said? Because the leagues own statement says it is, yet the punishments are not the same. Considering player paying scandal of a few short years ago you would have to even view the organization as chronic offenders. It certainly smacks of special treatment on the leagues part. So much for zero tolerance.

Do you have specific details on each incident? You can violate a policy in many different ways with varying degrees of seriousness. Doesn't indicate there is any "special treatment". Also doesn't indicate there isn't "special treatment". You need details in order to allege special treatment. I do not have the details, and I suspect neither do you.

So here is what the league said about Christenson when he was banned from the league. "Terry Christensen has been expelled from the League for conduct that is prejudicial to the welfare of the League. This comes as a result of remarks he made that violated the OHL Harassment & Abuse / Diversity Policy." here is what the league said about the Burkes when they were fined 150k and suspended indefinitely until at least June of 2024. “it is the position of the league that their conduct is prejudicial to the welfare of the OHL as it violates the harassment, abuse and diversity policy.” Does it seem that the Firebird GM got a far harsher punishment than The Burkes for essentially the same offense?

in addition the league also said this "“And also runs counter to the OHL’s Onside program which emphasizes the importance of demonstrating respect for women through actions and words,” the league said in the release." So yea seems to be the exact same thing only difference is the target of their bad behavior was a female colleague rather than a minority. Equally reprehensible conduct in every way and a violation of the exact same policy.

No it wasn’t Flint remark were a racist remark about a player. Niagara was harassment against a female collegue not know what exactly was said.

The big difference was Flint GM was suspended first before he was let go but the Burke boys stayed on the job for a month kind of puzzling.

I can see where it sure looks like the same thing but no idea in each case what was said. I'm also wondering out loud if part of the closed door meetings with the league was an agreement to sell the team so they won't return either way? Hence what seems like a lighter sentence but both will end in the same outcome? This is just speculation on my part but so much never comes to light that we all just end up guessing.

Mostly we can only hope at the end of the day the victims feel the league has their back .

"respect for women through actions and words" So disparaging sexist remarks directed towards a woman is not a violation of the same policy as a racial slur directed toward a minority player? it was in a transcript of a Whatsapp group chat so yea it was definitely words so for purposes of discipline the same thing.

You guys see them more than in I do. Was Cavallin’s suspension the reason for us losing steam or the injuries we have had? Or both?

Well the first game of the suspension vs the Soo they lost because of goaltending. Then when he returned Cavallin had a couple poor games too. He’s let in a few soft ones since the suspension and its cost them. Missing Deline, Giroux, Pitre, Piercey in addition to Kressler at various times over that span didn’t help either but they’ve also just looked flat. I only caught part of the Saginaw game on tv but stuff like that just cannot happen. The Conference and the Division was on the line at that point vs your biggest rival on home ice and they lost to a team that shouldn’t be able to beat them very often. There’s just times this year (mostly at the beginning of the season and a bit recently too) where they blow their chances and make a rookie goalie/poor goalie look like a stud instead of coming out of the gate just salivating at the opportunity to get on a goalie and in his head. Yet they’ll beat Brochu and chase Gaudreau from the net? Almost every team in the West has been inconsistent this year and has issues. I could see Cavallin getting back to form the team getting healthy and skating into the Finals or I could see them getting bounced in the first round in 6 or 7. I keep trying to remind myself either way it’s been a fun season where they’ve exceeded expectations but after seeing them play to their potential it gives you hope and belief in them achieving so much more.
