I thought it was a good game all around by the Jets.

some bad luck with the penalty and deflections but you can see how much this team will dominate with 4 lines

PLD was good in his debut. He adds a new dimension to the team for sure.

all around bad luck. It happens.

seen more good than bad with this one.

That's where positioning comes in friend.

Yes, and you position for the shot as it's being launched, because that's what you can predict, and that's where Hellebuyck is one of the best in the league. That's why you need a tip from three feet out, or in the case of the first goal, several deflections culminating in a final deflection from three feet out.

Right now, Booboo and Maurice are my higher ranking concerns. The former can at least be fixed easily enough.

My takes;

PLD started out rough, but was getting into it and regaining his ice legs as the game went on..... he’s gonna be a beast for us

Stanley continues to impress and show he’s a solid presence on our back end

Vesa is showing that he’s ready to be full time big show. Kid is looking good.

Wheelers play is degrading... fast. He shouldn’t be on the top PP unit any longer and is questionable in the top 6.

Copp and Ehlers should be permanently together... like write their names on the same line... in pen (add PLD and you’ve got one hell of a line)

Sheifele has looked and played better since PoMo shook up the lines a few games ago. Hope he continues

Hellebuyck is playing pretty damn good

OUR D IS OUR WEAKEST LINK
Is it cohler or Ehpp??

3 Dostoevsky guys. Mainly for the last 2 minutes of bad luck, penalties, shyte bounces, deflections.

Beaulieu must have sat beside Fyodor on the flight to Calgary.

I never ish on Po, but I bet 99% of the people on this board can come up with better lines than Mo did tonight.

What in the actual frick was that bush league combination supposed to accomplish tonight.

Quick thoughts...

9-55-27 Outstanding game from Ehlers. Scheifele has settled into a better D zone role. Copp is smart and effective.

93-25-26 I liked this line. Wheeler wasn't great with the puck but he had a bit of jump. Vesalainen showed some puck possession skills. Stastny played a smart game.

85-17-23 A quieter game, and less effective than usual. Perreault was mediocre. They aren't as good with Lewis instead of Appleton.

81-13-22 Nice first game for PLD. After a slow first, I thought he was good and dangerous at times with creative playmaking. Connor was meh. Still struggles badly in his own zone. Can that be coached? Appleton gave the line a bit more jump.

24-4 Pionk was marvelous. Easily the Jets' best D right now. Forbort was okay, though he sometimes looked a bit slow.

88-44 Can we please end this pair now and give Morrissey a decent RD? I said to my daughter midway through the third that Beaulieu would find a way to give the game to the Flames, and he did. He tries hard, but he just plays a chaotic game and he can't be trusted.

64-2 Stanley's worst game this season, I thought. He was out of sync. DeMelo needs a better partner. The Jets need to shuffle that D now.

44-2
24-4
14-33

Hellebuyck was okay. Didn't have that much work, really.

The thing is, if it were just about Beaulieu hitting the minimum game requirement, they coulda done that without playing him 22 minutes a night.

Yeah no idea what the heck Moe is thinking saddling Morrissey with him. You give Morrissey a poor partner and not only that but you make him play his offside where he isn't used to making the reads and breakout passes. Beau is a black hole on breakouts and you make Morrissey less efficient there as well. Just really dumb roster decisions imo.

Lines were fine. What isn't tho Is the system we play... Whatever it is... I can't tell cuz all our lines play different. There is no identity on this Maurice coached team.

I’d like to see...

Copp - PLD - Ehlers
Connor - Scheifele - Appleton
Vesa - Stastny - Wheeler
???? - Lowry - Lewis

Good summery. The Flames also got pretty favorable XGF metrics from their home stat collectors. Sure we only generated one high dangerous chance all night. It's games like today I find it hard to take some of this data seriously.

Somewhere nice
That suck.
Would have liked to keep up with the best team in the universe, Leafs.

Ottawa is coming up.
Should be both clean wins.

PLD should get some favorable match up.

Wheeler Stastny would be a good line with 15-16 ice time. The concern the other 2 lines will have 2 wingers playing above their weight class.

On to the next game.

Go Jets Go

My thoughts were:

- Close game between two very close teams.

- Both teams had solid defensive games.

- Jets looked rusty after a long layoff, just didn’t have their skating legs most of the night.

- PLD solid game, but you could see he’s rusty & not in full game shape. He plays a very different style of game then Mark.

- Ehlers, Helle both very good games.

- Most forwards were ok, but not great. Wheeler looked better tonight, I liked him better playing a procession game instead of the rush game.

- Beau.......Beau had a rough game.

- Rest of the D were ok.

- Refs......not sure how you see (everyone on the ice seen it) a brutal cross check from behind absolutely flatten Josh and don’t call it and then seconds later call a slight nick of a high stick.......Josh was certainly much more injured by the cross check then Johnny was by the slight nick. If you let the first one go that late in a tie game, you let everything go barring a significant infraction. Bad reffing there.
