I had been calling for Ehlers to be used on the "point" on the power play, and he scored from that spot, on his first goal last night. They should always play Ehlers, and another good shooter on PP # 1.

Reason why I say this, is that his shot is very underrated. He has a hard accurate shot, as was shown on his first goal. He scored from just behind the circle with a hard wrist shot, right into the top corner of the net. He also has a great slap shot, and should always be used on the point.

I should add, the old Montreal Canadian's dynasty team used to use Guy La Fleur on the point, and it was very effective. I hope we see more of this, with Scheifele at center and PLD on the wing for the PP.
I dont mind Ehlers on 2PP unit IF and i mean IF its gets equal time and they dont only get the last 20 sec.
PP unit with Ehlers and PLD on the half wall Heinola/Pionk on top.

Some interesting stats on our zone exits last night. Not like we didn't know it, but we struggle against a hard. sustained forecheck, and our retrieval/transition game can use a little work (or the injection of players who can help with it):

I know I sound like a broken record, but our d looks like no one is going to forecheck. They have no urgency retrieving the pucks and then they run out of time because they are under siege.

not even mad about the loss. Giddy over what I saw from PLD. We can totally build from this. Booboo gotta go go. Ville heinola plz.
There was a moment when PLD came out of the corner with 2 guys draped on him and he created an awesome chance.
Most of the time guys will look for a cute play, he simply brought it to the net.
Wait until he’s comfortable and game ready for more “ minits”

DeMelo has had a slow start, but it's not surprising since he had very little training camp and then had to take some time off. He really hasn't had a chance to settle in with a good partner. I would stick him with Morrissey and keep them together for a stretch and trust that they will play to their previous performances.

My preferred D pairs, at this point...

44-2

Hmmm...perhaps you’ve just overestimated your own understanding of the game with a statement like that?

People who have been watching the game for 50 years understand that calls get missed and sometimes there are even bad calls made against the team you support. Sometimes your team wins because of a similar call.

For decades teams could get away with cross checks, holding, and slashes to the hands. What they could never get away with was high sticking. That has been as automatic of a penalty as it get for 40 years.

It all evens out in the end and the only real way to protect against it is to buffer the score.

I can't remember if the Jets PP goal came on the tripping call on Stanley or not but that call was really weak and probably shouldn't have been called.
