I used to think Eakins was to blame for a lot of the Oilers problems, but now I'm not so sure. This is such a sad sack organization from the top down, I don't think any coach or player can have success in their current environment.

As a Canucks fan there is nothing happier then seeing your rebuild going as smooth as possible, and then seeing the oilers fail miserably. See ya in the playoffs!

Yikes. It truly is dire straits in Oil Country.. I just went over to the PGT to check it out, and man.. all I'm gonna say is, anyone who has ever engaged in this rivalry whatsoever, go have your kicks now.. and immediately let your sense of better sportsmanship take over, because there is some serious Flames hatred/envy going on over there. As much as I enjoy a good rivalry, it honestly gets hard to enjoy it sometimes when things get as bad as it is for them right now. Changes will obviously have to be made, but it's like there's absolutely no way to say for sure where to start but blow the mother up, again. I understand to an extent if they're going tank mode one last time for a crack at McSaviour, but man.. dat fan base tho.. :help:

On that note, I bid you all adieu until next time. Great to be a part of this experience with you guys.. Congrats again to Money Baer and cheers once again for the laughs. Off I go to read more of that PGT before I crash :sarcasm:

Courtesy of the Oilers board.

"its depressing seeing more effort from the Flames in the 3 min they showed them tie it up than in 60 min from the Oilers"

"Anyone else feel like a refugee watching the Flames. Maybe they will take us in for a bit?"

"the flames are very entertaining.... sucks it has come to this."

"Those sons of *****es did it in CGY. I ain't even mad."

"Flames win. Time to go on a bender
**** my life"

"I hate everything about Calgary.

The city, the team, their fans, everything. **** Calgary."

"Becoming a Flames fan. These guys are exciting to watch!"

Some great stuff right there :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

He is destroying Yakupov.

Never liked Yakupov, I think he has some big personality issues. Wouldn't of picked him first overall that year though there wasn't too much choice. I think Ryan Murray will be a huge piece for any team and would of probably been a better pick for the oilers too.

McTavish was fast tracked into Oilers management just like that idiot Lowe.

In case anyone didn't know:
1998: Became assistant coach of Edmonton Oilers just after retirement
1999: Became head coach of Edmonton Oilers
2000: Became GM of the Edmonton Oilers until his promotion (?) in 2008
2008-Present: Became President of Hockey Operations

McTavish:
2012: Hired as Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations
2013: Named to General Manager of Edmonton Oilers

These guys do whatever the hell they want because their boss is also their buddy buddy.

I missed the first 2 periods of this one (I will watch tomorrow), but I did catch the 3rd and OT, what a finish to this game! How can you not love this team? I don't know what Hartley is putting in their water bottles, but this team is just like Seabiscuit. They always turn on the jets in the 3rd period.

What a game, what a win! GO FLAMES GO!!!!!!!

Imo, Gordon and Fayne were good signings and finally addressed what Lowe gave up years ago in Stoll and Greene.

Instead of Pouliot, Nitkinin and Aulie they really should have gone with Bolland (despite his injuries) Mitchell/Volchenkov and Galiardi/Comeau

Oilers need a Hanzal type of center and an actual top pairing dman, and an actual starter in net. Until they fill those holes it doesn't matter what else they do. But Lowe needs to go.

Hall is one of the few guys that still gives a damn and even then it really seems like he's reached or is reaching his breaking point.

Kind of disagree. To put it politely, Hall's as dumb as a post. He tries, but only in the offensive zone. He's little better than Yakupov in the defensive zone but at least Yakupov seems to be trying to back check.

And at no point in any of his interviews has he given the impression that he acknowledges, accepts or even recognizes that the team as a whole needs to play better defensively. For the most part, he just blames the goalies for not making the save.

Granted, part of it is the Oilers culture of "scorers score, checkers check, defenders defend," etc.

Love the no quit effort.

However, if we played the first 2 periods just like the 3rd, we'd be a dominant team to play against. We need to give a 60 minute effort each and every game.

Started talking to some cute girls at the bar tonight as the Flames scored their 3rd goal. Then they scored the tying goal with 5 seconds left.... I says to them, I says "What a team hey? So entertaining!" and they says to me "Yeah, we were at this game tonight!"

Watched this game in the background while playing some games with friends. One other Flames fan... we lifted the roof off this place. What a game.

I thought if we were going to lose, it would feel really ******. A lot like the game against the Hawks (and a lot of our games from last year)- generated a lot of chances, then gave up a small number of even better ones. Just amazing that we were able to pull it out. Not much to be said that hasn't already been said.

YEAH BABY!!!!! WOOO! What a game, so happy we won and this is why I love our team :)

And gotta laugh at all the haterz, 3 years ago: You guys should tank, your team is in the middle of nowhere, just tank like Edmonton who's gunna be a dynasty in 5 years from now

We rebuild but don't embarrass ourselves like the Oilers, and WOW we are doing better than the Coilers while they are in the depth of nowhere; it wouldn't surprise me to see Hall ask for a trade, I mean it's the Oilers

Hope you enjoyed your 7-1 loss to Chicago, Oilers. Your wish of tanking has been fulfilled. I'll enjoy the Flames giving it my all while not having any "shiny" toys, like your team.
