GDT: Flames vs Devils 7:00 PM EST MSGSN2

Huberdeau called out post game that they noticed our defensemen were tired. This is a team that was at the end of a 3 in 4 saying we were tired after 2 days rest.

If you only play Nemec 9 minutes a game this is what happens.

Yea none of this is even spoken about it if Markstrom doesn't suck, but still.

I didn't like this quote either

Goalies lift their games with confidence and make easy saves look difficult when it goes. More likely, 35 year old Markstrom also has age after injury setback issues, a gamble Devils GM shouldn't have risked for a first-round draft pick in the 2025 draft, ironically with the Calgary Flames.

Another awful move from our talent depleting and extended contract expiry driven GM.

This is ridiculous. You guys are off the rails.

the Markstrom trade was and still is totally fine.

Rogalski still sucks ass and should have been banished with Ruff if not before that!

this might be a stupid question since i've never played nhl hockey but what exactly does a goalie coach do for an nhl veteran thats played 500+ games or someone thats been in the league like 8+ years? like i get it if theres a rookie goalie or 3rd year pro or coming from euro.

He sucked way before Markstrom got here.

lol i mean its funny because without markstrom in the first half of the season the team wouldn't even be where we are today. you are right though we should've kept schmid and vitek

At least try Casey for a game. We know Nemec can’t help right now. Regardless I didn’t think that why they lost last night.
They've tried him twice this season, they trust him even less than the other guys. They don't trust any of them really, but someone has to play the nine minutes a night.

I really don't care about opponents or former teams.

We are trying to make the playoffs and you go with the best option in goalie who happens to be Allen at this time. In two weeks maybe that changes, but Allen has been mostly great for a couple months now and should be getting a majority of the starts.

Allen is at .915 and Jacob is at .901. Allen could have 7 SO instead of 4 in 26 starts if not for some late goals.

Just stop with the nonsense already.

It’s always something with this team. Now the goaltending stinks again and somehow they’ve forgotten how to play in the third period.

I will say this…Timo and especially Bratt have delivered since the Jack injury, kudos to them. That’s at least a good sign going forward.

We are fine between the net if they run out the guy with the .915 S% but they keep running out the goalie with a .833 S% in March. It's just terrible management. Get into the playoffs first.

The 3rd is a product of turtling while teams that are trying to make the playoffs shorten their bench. Once they do that we start having issues because we aren't shortening our bench. How many odd man rushes do we need to see due to mental breakdowns? We are lucky we have a cushion in the standings.

.832% in March (since returning) but .816% since his second game back. And his only win we scored 5 goals. And he’s good for 4 goals per game if not even more since then.

I’d have to think we get at least a point out each of the Pens game and last night’s game if not for him. Quite possibly 4 points. But I’ll 2-3 at least.

He was also in net for the Dallas game we lost with like 5 seconds left in regulation. And while I don’t think the game winning goal was that bad, he was not at all helpful in that game.

If they wanna live by the Markstrom sword then everyone needs to die by the Markstrom sword if it leads to no playoffs.

markstrom shouldn’t play again until they clinch then let him try to get his game back but if they’re serious about making the playoffs you can’t have someone play the way he’s played, period.

Cory was benched over less in March of 2018. Although Cory was really bad leading up to him leaving the lineup to injury, which Markstrom wasn’t.

They were basically done with Cory by game 68 after only 3 games played in March/returning from injury to that point. Kinkaid even played an entire back to back set, but got lit up for four in the second half of it by the Ducks after shutting out the Kings the night before.

So they went with Cory in what was game 73 against the Sharks, but he was horrible and had to be pulled in the 2nd period. That was his last start until game 82. We clinched with a win in game 81. Kinkaid played every game between from there on out, including two entire sets of back to backs.

I really thought the Pittsburgh game was Markstrom’s Cory in San Jose moment, but last night BETTER have been it.

It’s hard for me to blame the goalie coach when one goalie is currently playing well and the other goalie was playing well before getting injured. It seems very obvious that Markstrom’s dip in play is a result of lingering effects of his lower body injury. That isn’t an excuse, but a fact. And they need to stop playing him for a bit because of it.

The decision to playoff Markstrom under these circumstances is on the head coach and GM.

There is also need to diminish Markstrom’s play before the injury. He has having a great year before he got plowed into. But because of the injury it is irrelevant to the decision on playing him moving forward.
