I thought it was a forgettable game for Mercer also. Didn't seem to have a lot of jump to his game, and I don't recall any dangerous chances he participated in.

What an amazing matchup over on TNT right now. Kraken vs the cup contending Nashville Predators.

I wonder if big nose.... I mean Biz is on there talking about how much we suck and how f***ed we are?

Actually, he's probably looking to contact his doctor right about now with how excited and aroused he is by his favorite team the Arizona State Phoenix Coyotes of Tempe winning a couple games in a row.

Kind of off topic, but worth nothing because we play them in two more games

Why is it that when Arizona wins games, there's always somebody going ''Oh yeah! They're a hard working team!'' I think it was Bill Spaulding that proclaimed how hard working of a team they were the other night because they beat Washington.

What do they expect? Them to go 0-82 or something like 5-77 or single digit wins? It's the same thing as when a nobody goalie or some shitty has a hot streak and they talk about it like the guy is amazing.
I thought we only played Calgary these two games and that's it?

We do

The team I was referencing were the Phoenix Arizona State Coyotes of Tempe or Future Nordiques of Quebec/future NHL Houston Astros/whatever they're called now/whatever they will be called.

I mentioned it earlier but got lost in Nico scoring spam -

It looked like the Flames had a goal during the scramble just before Nico's goal. Devils broadcast went to a closeup of the puck and it disappeared behind the post.

I was thinking it looked like that goal really meant a lot to him. I don't know if I've ever seen him so ampd to score a goal. It's a good sign. Even in an early season game returning from a 3-0 western Canada road trip, the team still thinks it's critical to win. Super encouraging.
Post game hand raise I thought was notable as well.

Small things I guess, but it's good to see the game isn't always about grinding and grimacing for the captain.

How long have you been around hockey? It’s always a morality play when teams do better than expectation (or do worse). There has to be a reason!
I tried to explain it to my friend who is a big auto racing/Nascar fan.

It's like talking about how hard working of a driver some bum is because he's finished in the top-15 or the top-20 in the last 5 races and not 38th and 35 laps down like he normally does.

Are A game was vs. Colorado and Columbus. Even Dano said we stole one . I’m not really sure what you’re watching. It’s a good sign that we’ve won games not at our best.
Sorry, misunderstood. It’s a good thing to win when you’re not at your best. However, I’ve watched hockey long enough to know if you continue to win in this manner things will turn. Just want to see a little more solid efforts. Better habits.

Good thing this is probably the first game of the season they looked sloppy. Or at least that sloppy. Agree with your sentiment, but even the absolute best teams have nights like this.

I'm gonna enjoy the win, but the next two games have let down/trap game all over them.

If we win Thursday then I think we're good for Saturday.

One of my favorite teams of the offseason, the Ottawa Senators, who I was loudly outspoken against this offseason about not really being all that good. I don't think most people thought they were gonna be good, but I do think they were somewhat credited as ''WInning the offseason'' and I just really don't think much of them and they're showing why right now.

And the Forsberg contract was wayyyyy premature. That was one of the safer bets of this season, that he overachieved last year and wouldn't be that good this year and that a 3 year deal for a career third stringer that couldn't stay in the NHL until he was 29 years old was probably way too generous.

Everyone knows what a sad sack franchise Arizona is. There's nothing to be gained by slagging on them some more, so the commentators try to find some guys who are trying hard and pump their tires a bit out of kindness. Doesn't bother me at all.

It's gonna be an issue if they come out flat for those games, it'll be three games in a row for bad hockey being played for them. They survived tonight because Markstrom decided to pull a Blackwood on the Hischier goal but Ruff's message should be not to be relaxed going into two games they should be heavily favored in. Would love to see Holtz in for those games. Powerplay looked awful for the most part tonight.

The goal line is as thick as the post. Was close but thats it. Besides, think the refs blew in the whistle at that point and stopped the play.

They were not bad last game. They had a great first, bad second, and split third against another good team. Yeah tonight was bad but that was the first bad game.
