This was a game that VV basically stole for us.

I know that's weird to say since we scored 3 goals but it definitely looked that way.

Blackwood would've let in 2 softies and we would've lost 4-2 or 4-3.
It's hard to say any goalie would win or lose any one specific game, but it's easy money that we would not be on a 7 game winning streak if he was still healthy.

You just know we would have lost one of the Oilers game (which he started) or the last game in Calgary if he was in. We would have lost one of them games.

I just hope they don't mess with what Vanecek might have going for us when he gets back and experiment with giving him games just to give him games (like the Vancouver game last week and then throwing him right back in for the Edmonton game), Vanecek is the undisputed starter right now. He SHOULD be. He's been the better goalie in the regular season, the preseason, the last two seasons. One guy has been one of the worst goalies in the NHL since February of 2021 and guess what? One guy hasn't been and guess which one it is? The one that's signed for the next TWO seasons and Blackwood ain't signed for any after this one.

Nico got a lot of praise from the Sportsnet feed. He made several big defensive plays and of course had 2 points and the game winner. He’s a hell of a player.

Hughes and Bratt had tough outings but the captain and Vitek put the team on their shoulders.

Not great but teams often look out of sync after a road trip. Hope they can start stronger against Ottawa on Thursday.

If Vanecek continues to play like this up until Blackwood’s return, he will be the unquestionable #1. They’ll still get Blackwood in there from time to time but it’s Vitek’s net to lose at this point.

For all the praise Marino's gotten, Dougie's still been the best on the team this year (Siegs has also been 2nd over Marino as well)

I don't know if their contributions are directly comparable. Marino has gotten praise for his defensive steadiness. Dougie is more of a gunslinger, we know he's going to take risks to get chances on net, because that's how he gets points.

Maybe it doesn't matter how they compare, because both have been good and both are vital to our success.

Sure but also people have been acting like Marino's been the best Dman on the team this year. He's been great but he hasn't been better than either Dougie or Siegs.

Yet Bratt did manage to get an assist on the Graves goal. #NewStreakBegins

13,096 tonight. That's impressive I was thinking crowd would still be under 12k. I plan on being there Saturday.

My friend has an extra ticket so I would be going Saturday but unfortunately I've got something else I have to do

Bratt was still good. Jack on the other hand...

He should be merely the backup after he's healthy, unless Vanecek really falls off a cliff. And if he hits a rough patch, he should be given the benefit of the doubt over the guy that's been one of the absolute worst goalies in the NHL for almost two whole years now.

He should get the same treatment #35 got after he came back from a 6 week layoff in 2018. He bombed and stunk for a few games and Hynes stopped giving him the benefit of the doubt and even completely benched him (even for back to backs) the last 2-3 weeks before we clinched after stinking it up against San Jose. For all his faults, Hynes did exactly what was needed with his choice of goalie at the end of that year and we had absolutely no margin for error.

It's just awesome to win a game where you played like shit. We've been on the other end of that so much the past couple of years.

i feel like neither of these are kosher, but honestly I would probably put the bar somewhere around implying he's a 3C
both of those things were posted repeatedly by one poster.

06 was the win streak at the end of the season to win the division followed by the sweep of the Rangers.
Did we have a 9 game win streak to end that season too?

I know we had a 9 game win streak earlier that year (in January) which began I think with the season debut of Patrik Elias after he returned from hepatitis.

That was also Marty's first shutout of that season and he wound up having a bunch on that win streak.

No

Bratt Pack showed up even before the regular season opener

DevilDoggo turned hell and became RangerDoggo on the night of the home opener (game 2 of the season) and hasn't been seen since.
It almost seems like he is trying to imply that RangerDoggo is really BrattPack which is silly.
