I also maintain that Brady was a shit captain, you have no idea how sick I was hearing him say after blowout losses throughout his entire captaincy:

"We just weren't ready"

WHY WEREN'T YOU READY YOU'RE BEING PAID MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO DEDICATE YOUR LIFE TO A SPORT, HOW DOES THIS CONSTANTLY HAPPEN.

Lol
Most teams and players don't make it far in the playoffs. I was a big Huberdeau fan, and don't blame him for not taking his team to the third round. The we just weren't ready isn't dishonest.

Probably has a really good chance at being a decent result for Ottawa and I am not a Brady fan at all, think he is overrrated in pretty much every aspect. I don’t think it was smart for Zito to blow his draft haul on a middling winger with so many other holes to fill and an older overall roster if that’s what he did here.

This, plus you basically turn Florida into the Tkachuk show. Nvm the podcast and all, I’m just talking locker room dynamics- Barkov is smart, they ain’t, but they got x2 the voice now. They kinda become the identity of the team, and they’re wildcards.

Ottawa resets, but those are some good 1sts.

Ottawa fans are realistic, they know that winning now is not possible. Ottawa can’t compete with the top teams in the East.

Smart thing would be to sell everyone and rebuild.
Ottawa has been rebuilding for almost 10 years already. They have good players. I think they can make a real push with just a couple moves

Brady Tkachuk has the 2nd most points per game in the last 7 seasons for Ottawa only Tim Stutzle out paced him in that department.

Tkachuk was also their captain and say what you will about him but he stuck up for his teammates on the ice, look at their lineup as it is now, their top 6 is only Stutzle and Batherson.

This can’t be the final move before the draft Staios has to pivot to a scoring winger like Jason Robertson, Ottawa can’t keep rebuilding perpetually, every 5 to 10 years it’s not sustainable if they ever want to be a competitive franchise again.
Swapping Tkachuk for Robertson would be a decent improvement. You’re also forgetting they have a franchise D who is comfortably in the top 10 league wide.

The Tkachuk brothers are pure cringe. I actually think having the two of them on the same team will be a complete distraction.

At least I hope they will be.
That’s all we can hope for as fans of other teams in the Atlantic.

If Florida is as good as they look on paper right now, it’s going to f***ing sting watching those cocky bastards kick the shit out of their opponents every game.

Guy who was 11th in TOI/GP this past year and from multiple accounts gave up on his teammates. What they achieved this season, wasn't because of him. It was despite him. The players in the locker room wanting to see him go speaks volumes about what he brought to this team this past season.

Matthew Tkachuk has never been at odds with Barkov or done anything other than show respect to him and his leadership. Adding Brady is not going to change that.

If Ottawa keeps all the picks they will probably grab at the very least two forwards out of the three 1st round picks they currently possess #9, #25 and of course the #32 pick which can’t be moved.

One of those picks could be Viggo Bjorck if he falls to the 9th pick.

I’m an Ottawa fan and I’m elated. Not sure why these boards think that we liked Brady. You defend your players while they play for you. But let’s be honest, Brady isn’t what, their third best player at best? Staois did well on this, for a player that was clearly one foot out the door and even his own locker room didn’t like him. Sens fans by and large are pretty excited about this trade and what it means moving forward.
What does it mean moving forward? How can you say that? Picks are just picks. Who is Tkachuk's understudy? Cozens?

If you were wondering who might join Brady in Florida:

Florida uses up their draft capital and 8.5 mil cap on a top 6 winger where they needed goaltending and depth.
I mean brady is depth in a way, but im happier to see them add to a position of strength while having not a lot of options to fix the goaltending issue. We’ll see how it plays out i guess.

That top 6 is pretty wild though
