Yellow is guys I think are locks for WJC.

Likely guys include Port, Fibigr, Sikora and Curran (who was a 13th forward and 4th liner here???)

Some of the guys missing that will be considered to add to this roster:

Jiricek
Badinka
Benak
Mrtka
Stancl
Holinka
Milota
Kos

You weren't. You expected Sweden to spank Finland but you lost to Slovakia instead...the same Slovaks who got spanked by Finland...
I was right. You were wrong. Sweden and Czechs spanked Finland, or didn't they? Check your reading skills mate.

They beat them by 5. Which is clear enough but not really comparable to Finland vs Slovakia or what your expectations were against Finland. Also, here's another gentle the reminder that Sweden lost to that same Slovakian team.

Finlands roster... Could almost call it laughable. Sweden should beat them with 7 or 8 goals. No surprises here mr Hinterman

Sale ended with about 7 points in 4 games I think. He had a hell of a tourney! Now continue that into the season and enter U20 as a guy to fear!

Jecho got some offense as well and that is great to see!

I know the tournaments don't carry much weight going forward. I don't think this means much at all. It is nice though to see some guys playing well.
Yes. Sale has 7 points and is the top scorer of the tournament. I don't think he was very dominant (I liked Czechia's defensemen way better than the forwards who were mostly inconsistent, at least when it came to creating chances) but he certainly put up the points.

He has an understated and quiet game... So I see your point.

But the excuses are running out for him...

Extraliga club mishandling him
OHL club sucks
Lack of finishers and he is a playmaker

All things I've said before. But he's now on a string OHL club.. had Kulich at last year's tourney.

Agree about the D... That seems to be our new way .. get d down low and create offense. Still pissed no badinka.. dying to see him in the jersey.

It proved that this age level is wildly unpredictable. The scores are all over the place. The Finland.. Slovakia.. Sweden results were pretty wild.lol

How are you feeling about Finn's going into WJC? Gold contender.. medal contender..

I think czechs are a medal threat and would hope to make semis. Like the potential look of the squad. Hoping a few Czechs surprise in CHL and rise like Becher did last year as our offence could use a jolt.

Whats a bit shame that Benak and Mrtka didnt play at all in the end, if I remember correctly they were in the initial lineup? Maybe I missed some info why they didnt play in the end, idk didnt read much articles around this turney, but still a shame.
Třinec asked Augusta to not nominate Mrtka. Looks like he will start the season on A team and they want him to adapt to men's hockey,

When, or if, he grows into that body... He could be damn good!

Its definitely gonna be an interesting year for czech U20 guys in ELH. From the top of my head you have Mrtka and Sikora in Trinec, Jiricek in Plzen, Galvas and Perez in Liberec, Novotny and maybe Cerny in Hradec, Mastalirsky in Litvinov, Kavan in Brno, maybe Zahejsky in Vary, Hradec in Boleslav and I am sure couple of other guys will pop up during the season.

Then you add Badinka + maybe those guys like Kos, Felcman or Stancl from other euro leagues, and we might have a team core of players playng stable in mens hockey at WJC.

Doesnt sound bad.

While meaningless... I am happy with the lack of goals against too. They didn't play Hrabal against Sweden and he ended up with a very tidy .5GAA

I have maintained that Slovakia owns him.. every time we play Slovakia they shoot high and burn his glove. My dream is that his glove side has improved over the year. Felt to me like he did better against North American teams than European ones. Curious how his year will go in NA and how he does at Xmas. He will be key to any success we may find in Ottawa!

I remember when I started posting too much on here.. it was a Finn poster and he asked how many of our Czechs play pro before a U20. The answer was almost none of them. While most the Finn guys were in the Liiga powering away and dominating.

Nice to see it spin around!

I read that Jiricek is going to OHL from a good source (but can't remember who, I want to say Jan Vopat and that he is a Blues scout but I could be full of shit here on the name and job).

Neat article on the returning guys too... ELH may have an influx of talent and be a stronger league than usual. We have some great returning vets (cervenka, Sedlak or Kase come to mind) and then a whole bunch of 19 to 21 year olds that may end up being good.

You know I like your posts. I started reading this post and thought I'd give it a like. But the more I read and the more I realized the reality of the last few years, the more I realized that he was too naive.
The idea that all those players would get a lot of ice time in the extra league is naive.
Mrtka will probably leave for the CHL when Jeřábek returns, Záhejský already has a chosen club in the WHL, I somehow feel that the relationship between Badinka and Augusta is broken after last season and this year's tournaments, when Badinka apologized every time... I will be happy if four players they will get a lot of ice time in e ELH (Sikora, Novotný, Galvas and Jiříček. And for the first two, I have serious doubts that it will really happen) and of the rest, at least half will also play in a league that will ensure their good development. Why blindly hope that those players will play with men, when, for example, Becher and Melovský played in the CHL and were absolutely key players in the championship?
Better let them play junior competition and improve than be in a team with men and be pushed there..

I just posted those guys, because as of today they are still affiliated with ELH clubs. Dont know how many will go to NA last minute, or if some of them wont play much. But I say at least Jiricek, Galvas, Perez. Mrtka, Sikora, Novotny, Mastalirsky, Kavan, Hradec should play full time or most of the season with men in ELH if they stay here.

Badinka will definitely play a whole season in SHL if he stays in Sweden, with Kos, Felcman, Stancl it can go either way, Of course more probably they wont play full season with men, but still can happen,

And that is no way in saying, that having guys in CHL and being key players there is a bad thing. As you say, those guys were our best players last WJC, and last few years CHL seems to be good for our youth development.

It was meant more that on top of those really quality CHL guys, our euro group can consist mostly from guys playing full time with men already, and not being scraped from U20 like it was sadly a standard couple years ago.

All of this.

It's a lot different from 5 years ago where we'd have 3 good players.. maybe 6 drafted and the rest were cannon fodder.

Now half the team is drafted. Several in first round or will be first round. Several succeeding in their leagues from CHL, NCAA, USHL, Extraliga, SHL and LIIGA. Not much cannon fodder on our rosters today. Most the guys should still be playing hockey at age 25 and some even in the NHL, I hope.

Obviously, I'd prefer they all be playing in Czech till they come over to NHL after being drafted but that still feels years away.

For isntance, this roster from 2017... Hronek is obviously doing very well in NHL. Vladar may still get many NHL games in. Necas is obviously a legit player. Rest of the roster didn't get more than 20 NHL games combined. Only first rounder was Zboril.
