Hey, what was the Blackhawks situation? Is it the Corey Perry one?
Well, I didn't want to get specific about it because I know that these subjects always have a lot of mod warnings. Mainly, just wanted to talk about the hockey aspects, while giving sympathy to the people involved. :)

Others have mentioned some of the incidents involving the Blackhawks.

Agree. If HC or any youth organization is really being expected to include in their curricula "Lesson Module 438: Don't Gangbang The Drunk Chick" then we have to wonder what sort of values that parents are instilling at home.
To be fair Hockey Canada has settled enough or knew enough about it happening with their players to maybe add it to their curriculum.

the same can be said for A, Select, B, BB, EE and house league. In fact the ones that seem the less crazy are the AAA ones.

Hockey dad to two kids. One plays AA, one plays Tier 3, so pretty different levels.

The crazier hockey parents are definitely in AA. Tier 3 is way more just about everyone having a fun time.

I find it very hard to have any thoughts on this. This thread is full of speculation and I don't think anyone does have actual total knowledge of what happened.

Does anyone know to what extent the public will be allowed to know about facts and statements from the woman and the players? Will all details be made public in the case of trials?

I think the unfortunate thing in all this is that if they are found guilty they will get a slap on the wrist. The benefits of being a rich, white athlete.

I don't think so.

I mean - that's what it looked like happened at first. London PS had a perfunctory investigation and closed their file.

But now the media attention is on. Charges have been laid. No prosecutor is going to give them a sweat-heart deal. This baby is going to trial.

Now - they might be acquitted at trial. That certainly can happen. But I don't think that counts as a "slap on the wrist".

Trials are a matter of public record. Other than a publication ban which would prohibit publicizing the name of the complainant, everything said in this trial will be public.

Testimony, etc will be public. But evidence (say the cell phone videos) would not necessarily be public, right?

Most details will likely be made public. Certain things can be left out. Will be fairly transparent, but not as transparent as day the Depp vs Heard thing a few months back

Also of note, a lot of details from the civil case are already public knowledge.

So what would be the price to take on Hart’s contract as a cap dump?
Hart’s contract expires this summer. The Flyers don’t need cap space right now and will likely gain space at the deadline anyway. Don’t see any reason for them to spend assets dumping Hart’s contract.

Yeah, I was more interested in seeing if anyone would even entertain touching these players, even if like a 1st or more was included

Anything entered into evidence is public. Media can pay a modest search fee and get a copy of any exhibits entered on the trial.

What we won't know is any evidence gathered by police but not entered at trial.

almost 200 pages for 5 guys, you'd think these were the 5 best players in the league

If thy Flyers offered a first and Hart for a throwaway, there would be plenty of takers considering he likely isn't going to be able to play until after his contract runs out. I don't doubt almost every team would entertain that. It wouldn't happen though because the Flyers have no incentive to do it.

I'm really disappointed in Dillon if he was involved in this and I hope that if this is the case, he never plays another game for the Flames.

I do think with the criticism the NHL took over the way they handled the Blackhawks situation, it is possible that the NHL will use this opportunity to severely punish the Flames.

Fine, take away a 1st rounder from Ottawa.

i did find it very random that the flames released that statement and if anything it makes them look kind of like idiots.

Very sad and hope the victim in this is getting the support she needs. Regardless of guilt these players engaged in a gang assault at the least. I mean who in their right mind calls their buddies to join in after picking up someone? There were 5 at minimum in that room with her did they really think she wanted that? Add in the drinks and 5 guys intimidating 1 woman.

As per hockey Canada they covered this up as well they should be held accountable as well. Very sad situation and yes these guys knew they did something wrong. Who records a video getting consent after the fact.

And the whole they were holding golf clubs thing, while getting her to make the two different videos and shower before she could leave thing... Which... The implication there really isn't great.

It's not really "defense" of flames management, I just don't think what they did was that big of a deal.

Dube asked for a leave due to mental health and they treated it as such. If it was 3 months before the news vs 3 days I don't see it being an issue at all.
I agree.

First, Dube has not been convicted of anything and still deserves a presumption of innocence from all.

Second, it isn't up to the Flames to do the job of the London police. Knowing what they know now, I'm sure they would've presented it differently. At the time, they released information on their employee based on what he told them.

Third (and this one is tongue-in-cheek), if I knew I was about to be charged with a crime, it would probably have a pretty major effect on my mental health.

It's not the Flames fault that people feel the need to virtue signal in a thread on social media before they have all, or any, of the facts.

Not responding to this case in particular but dismissing the fact that maybe there is some person that in fact would like to have a train run on them just because you don't like it is pretty silly.

I mean there are people in this world that stick gerbils in their ass for fun.

Maybe this was assault or rape, maybe its someone with questionable morals who is looking for attention. Either way we should wait for facts to make "factual statements"
