That's awful. I'm glad you're recuperating physically and I'm sure you'll rebound emotionally in due time.

Wherever you travel, there will be people who will try to take advantage of you. A sad testiment to humanity.

Thanks.

I might post a recap tomorrow.

This actually happened on my way back from travel, near the local train station.

What's everyone's favourite upper back variation?

The other day I tried doing lat pull downs with a wide (all the way out to the end of the straight part of the bar) supinated grip and that's the way I'm going to do lat pulldowns for the next little while. I have never felt that part of my lat contract before when doing overhand grip pulldowns.

Weighted chin-ups and pendlay rows are my go to’s for back

I got mugged last weekend and it's left me emotionally perturbed. I could have been seriously injured but they only got my cell phone. I haven't exercised this week, and I've been eating really poorly. I'm feeling a little better every day.

That's awful to hear man. Hope you're doing better.

Always love these rants

He's on point on most of what he says though...

Don’t watch all his videos or anything, but this just popped up on my feed and decided to watch it since I had just watched the vid you posted. Now I’m sure you’ll rebut with ad-hominem attacks against Vegan Gains since folks love to hate him, but there is no denying the guy is whip smart and excellent at debating, and he does a great job of debunking the debunker here.

The worst thing Rippetoe ever did was convince an entire generation of lifters that the smith machine is either useless or dangerous or both. I don't know about you guys but I get at least twice the pump from smith machine bench than I do from a regular bench.

Of course, the free weight exercises are king, but machines have their uses.

Beginners should stay away from the Smith machine. It has its use but Rippetoe wasn't wrong.

They should use more guys like him to deliver their messages.
I wish he could have brought up other points however, like why they left out how meat eating McGregor won his rematch versus vegan Diaz, and don't tell me it was a timing issue as they had more than enough time to edit this piece. They purposely left that out. But I guess he was just focused on dissing what that bodybuilder brought up.
Greg isn't wrong about how they make links to protein to energy in the documentary and how that's off. We knew that.
Same goes with the firefighter food coma that he gets from spinked insulin which has nothing to do with meat vs vegan, and everything to do with bad vs good.

As for the gladiators. I also find that point to be meh. Gladiators were a very select group of people, I'd bet they were genetically predisposed to become such people. They weren't just fed and trained into that. We know most were slaves..up until a certain point and then it became more open to free men, but initially, they were the physically gifted individuals and I'm sure whoever joined freely also was. I do understand why they put it in, it is a nice sensationalist tool to use to set up the rest.

All in all, as I said, agree with the premise of the movie, didn't like some of the things presented inside.

This guy makes some good points about Westside, I think.

Do you lift in gear?

Meh...sounds like a hater. There is no perfect program out there. Some people like Crossfit, some like bootcamp, some like bodybuilding, some like strength training, and the same goes for certain programming within each of those modals.
Olympic Weightlifting is a great way to analyze this. What country has the edge? The Bulgarians? Russians? Ukrainians? Chinese? US? Wait a minute..what about dem persians? or Georgians?
Too many countries..okay, let's focus on just the US..Catalyst Athletics? Cali strength? Team Burgener?

Westside has their modals and ya, they've become this sort of Mecca of Powerlifting. Simmons has grown that sport, he is a major part of why it is where it is today. The knowledge he brought forward in books, videos, podcasts, has helped. His machines are also quite good.
Whether you agree with his concepts or not, fine, but to make a whole video about why you ''hate'' Westside seems a bit petty to me and just a click bait type of thing.

@DramaticGloveSave also disappointing not to hear you bring up how James Cameron is a producer of Game Changer...You do know JC is a major investor in Pea Protein right? His company ''Verdient Food'' has 140M in investment in it, it would become the biggest producer of pea protein in North America.

Funny how we always read you bring up this or that study was backed by animal food groups, but then...forget to leave out the major conflict of interest here.

James Cameron is simply using his resources to help shift the world to plant based eating for environmental reasons- hes a big time environmental philanthropist. He also had very little to do with the actual film Game Changers, he basically just helped the movie get funding and distribution, but the movie was actually made by James Wilks and Louie Psihoyos. Do you honestly believe this is all just a ploy for James Cameron to make money off of peas?

Also looks like Thor is gonna give plant based eating a shot based on comments he made on a Kai Greene IG post. that would truly be a game changer.

Definitely an interesting topic! I might as well give it a try for a week on my offseason. I’m always willing to give everything a chance! Especially when it comes from legends like @schwarzenegger & @kaigreene

Direct quote from Hafthor. And yeah, it'd be great to see him succeed because that would put to rest the "Vegan is better" or "carnivore is better" crap. Thor has been on the vertical diet for 3 years now and he's dominated the field every since Eddie retired.

Funny enough, Kai Greene built his physique off chicken, he's been on the plant-based diet for .... 7 days.

No I don't think it's a ploy, I just call out the double standard because you're always the first one to scream ''meat funded!!'' behind anything that suggests any positive to meat eating.

That's my point with how vegans are just bad at presenting their points. It's completely normal that meat eaters/producers will fund studies to show their products is good. Who else would pay? Just like it makes complete sense for vegans/environmentalists to fund their own studies.

Another funny thing, Nate Diaz also admits he eats eggs and fish. He says he goes full vegan for fight preps but eats more fish now. This is also what he had to say about tofu:
"I would never reccomend tofu. Everybody does that tofu thing, but that's whack. Tofu's not good for you. Yeah, they make tofu, that's some bitch-ass shit anyway. Why would you even want to eat something called that?"
"Everyone's like, 'I'll take that tofu,' but that shit actually lowers your testosterone. It makes you bitch-made."

Not that this means anything, I just thought it was funny.
But there's just a lot of left to be desired. Same with the blood vials they use, pretty normal for the it to look less clear when you eat more fat. What happens when you wait longer though? If things were getting clogged up so easily, you'd die very quickly. There's just so many weird things in these movies...everything needs to be so sensationalised with a lot of shock value. I understand it from an environmentalist stand point, but when they start going into the health reasons, they lose me.

The soviets and it's not close.

Did you watch the video, though? He calls it an ingenious system for what it was designed for. Why he hates it is because every dickhead comes into his gym wanting to do it when they'd really be a lot better off if they just listened to him, especially if they're raw.

China would like a word with you young man.

Also, thats true of any cookie cutter program, a coach is always better, unless he's really bad. That's not exactly the point though, you have to look at the information westside provided to the world of strength.

Ya I watched it...I thought it was more of a hating job. Noobs coming in wanting to get on that isn't really Westside's fault.

I always saw Westside as a dynamic program... In the sense that it's been constantly evolving through the years. Simmons manages his gym like a test lab and has changed his approach according fed rules and equipment. I dont have the numbers anymore, but I know his guys, himself included, have posted significant numbers even before multi-ply lifting.

I’ll trust the science over Nate Diaz lol

And not surprised (mod) that you can’t see the difference between the meat industry funding studies and an environmentalist helping produce a film. It’s not like James Cameron is involved in the film industry or anything

Also in regards to the fat and the vials, they replaced the fat in the vegan burrito with guacamole.
