I am losing confidence in him... anybody can go out and trade for guys that are good players or good on paper but can he build a winning team.... not sure about that.. hes' too close with ruff. and its apparent that the Hughes brothers are in charge of this team. Neither one play hockey the right way yet. Fitz is as much to blame as ruff

he let a lot of good hockey players walk out the door this off season, not saying its all his fault but shero left him in a really good position and to me he is squandering it..

As the resident “it’s the goalies fault!” Poster and someone who would rather see Ruff coach another game here than see that cowardice chump Vitek ever dress another game for this franchise, every goalie’s expected save percentage is 6 or more points below the league average on moneypuck. The numbers are similar on evolving hockey and I’m sure they’re not far off from that on NST, which I don’t use much because the site is so low quality and too complicated to read.

Daws expected save percentage on moneypuck is .896%. He’s at an .895%.

No one is playing to expected, but Daws is just barely below and was above expected before last night’s game.

The fact that the expected save percentages on this team are between .895%-.898% in a .904% league average is absolutely on the coach/staff. Unless you’re just looking to blame the inexperience on D.

So it’s a crime to bail Lindy out with another goalie (even next year, f*** him, let him walk the plank) and to let a new goalie work under Rogalski.

We’re almost as too far gone with Lindy as we are Vitek at this point.

I think he’s smart and better than most at finding good players and making deals.

I also think he has a lot of connections and puts far too much importance on them. Too many hockey ties and too involved in the politics of the hockey world.

That’s probably why we were the ones to sign Cal Foote and Nolan Foote was written into the lineup in the off-season. That’s why the golden Hughes brothers run the team and aren’t held accountable at all. That’s why his buddy Ruff is still around and still playing the shit out of a bum like Smith and not giving opportunities to young euros who deserve it like Hatakka and Holtz. Culture problem that starts from the top.

If Fitz was more ruthless and less concerned with and influenced by these things I think he’d be one of the best gm’s in the league and we’d be in a better spot than any team in the league.

Mercer has been in the league 3 years now.

To be fair, this is the first year under Ruff where the goalies expected save percentage has been significantly below league average or below league average at all. Jon Gillies was an .885% on an expected .905% a couple of years ago. I don’t put that on Ruff.

But Ruff got his pass after that season and he may have gotten a pass for this one with all the injuries, but with the way the last couple of games have looked and the fact we have no margin for this type of error anymore, I don’t believe he’ll get a pass this time, unless we really get things together and finish just outside of a playoff spot.

Guys, I think you are overlooking a great young coach who can inspire the boys and lead them into the playoffs:

Sanguinet

Lets look at the Pros:

- Led his team to a 24 game heater.

- Willing to cut a player unless they score a goal in a close game

- Plays the Jims in order to "Set the Tone"

- Hands out delicious game sticks

- Dating a Cutie in Management

- Received an underwater squeezer off Wasaga Beach from his coach's girlfriend, and then is man enough to apologize later to his now goalie for getting it.

And Most Importantly....Hates to Lose

"Shut the F*** up, Sanguinet."

I would hope Fitz and the organization doesn't succumb to media pressure to make any decisions.
They don’t. It’s 56 games into a horrible season and they haven’t done a thing, so I don’t think you have to worry about them succumbing to pressure to make decisions.

The media pressure line has spread like wildfire on social media. This might finally light the fuse that blows up in his face. A self own as the final straw would be a chef kiss moment.
The media has an even thinner skin than Ruff, any criticism and/or perceived slight of the media class gets amplified massively on twitter. Ryan knew what he was doing with that tweet, and Ruff shouldn't have said that.

What do want them to do?

Fire the coach and take months to implement a new system? Season is in turmoil with or without a change.

Get a goalie to play behind our ineffective defense?

Sit the young defenders and replace them with journeymen Ben Lovejoy types?

Trade one of our premier players?

What could they realistically do?
