We have Rangers fans feeling sorry for us now lmfao
I mean I actually love him calling out the Hughes brothers. The need to be held accountable. Some meaningful action such as taking them or at least Luke off the first power play unit for the first time would be nice too.So Ruff basically called out the Hughes brothers and blamed the media for the PP being a complete dumpster fire? Yeah, he's not going to be around much longer if that continues.

Completely agree. You call them out behind the scenes, take ice time away, you bench them. You don't show them zero accountability on the ice then whine to the media.
Dammit, why did you have go and do that. I thought I was at least going to get Rick rolled. We need a fresh new face

Not saying they don't deserve the criticism, but when Jack seems to be the biggest Ruff supporter it doesn't speak well to then be calling him out in the media. It reeks of desperation, which hopefully means Ruff is feeling some heat from above.I mean I actually love him calling out the Hughes brothers. The need to be held accountable. Part of the reason I think Jack loves Lindy so much is because he gives him so much freedom. As I think I’ve said before I don’t think Jack and Luke have great attitudes and I think we need someone who’s a bit more demanding of Jack to come in a some point if we really want to win. He needs a kick in the ass.Not saying they don't deserve the criticism, but when Jack seems to be the biggest Ruff supporter it doesn't speak well to then be calling him out in the media. Of course none of this matters if they just keep doing the same shit that doesn't work over and over again and ride Luke into the ground or keep icing suboptimal lineups. It took them until before the All Star break to adjust the defensive coverage. They'll probably adjust the PP with like 10 games left in the season after it no longer matters lol
There’s a balance to it. You want them have leeway but also be responsible and mature with it. Jack isn’t.I don't care about Lindy not calling out Jack, he's legitimately hurt trying to play. If this shit was happening while he was healthy then yeah rip him to shreds. I also think Jack has the leeway to do what he wants. You don't want your superstar to get neutered, you'll end up with Barzal. Every superstar in this league has that leeway. That being said, Luke needs to f***ing sit. It's gotta miserable watching him hit this wall.

The healthy excuse also doesn’t fly. Jack says he’s healthy and if he was badly hurt they wouldn’t be playing him. Lindy’s looking for any excuse he can and at the end of the day there isn’t a single player in the league who is 100% or even close to it at this point in the season.
The season really isn’t cooked at all. I think we have very little chance if Lindy sticks around much longer but we’re still just a good winning run away from being in a playoff spot.I agree, I've been on that train where Jack needs a coach to hold him accountable. But this season is cooked, what's the purpose gonna be if he does it now? The time would've been after that atrocious Flyers game he had that he served a pizza to Owen Tippett for the OT winner but it didn't so get a new voice into the room next year and everyone starts anew. Jack right now is like Ovechkin pre Trotz in Washington. Luke needs to be benched and sit in the press box, two different types of benchings imo.

I think benching Luke is jumping to an extreme. Taking him off PP1 and lowering his minutes which have been high lately would be perfect. Do that and tell him to keep things simple and play smart sound game for a bit. He’s not winning the Calder and the points don’t mean that much. Just have him focus on defense and not making mistakes. They’ve never really done that with him like they did with Nemec in the AHL.
I’ve also said a lot before that while I think he can be good offensively I think his biggest potential will be if he can use his skating and size to become elite defensively. Have him focus on that in a lesser role and with PP2 minutes still.
That’s a load of horseshit. If we get into the playoffs it won’t be by limping in. The only way we can do it is by finishing strong. The Hughes nursing an injury thing is made up bs. Maybe he’s not 100% but as I said no one is.Yes, the season is cooked. It serves next to no purpose to limp into the playoffs and get absolutely smacked with our top center nursing an injury, top 6 power forward who can't move. The defensive core that is back to shambolic with the middle of ice after a few good games. Playing a young goalie into the ground coming off of hip surgery. All bad coaching decisions. And no, you bench Luke for a game or two in the press box. Bring up Hatakka who was literally the second best dman on the team behind Nemec and was contributing to the team having good defensive nights. And he has had elite defensive nights against superstars, he shut down MacK and ended his point streak v Colorado. He's hit a wall, it's the best thing to do. Also, as long as he's dressed, he's gonna play PP1

The whole point of a coaching change is that you would be hoping to fix some of the things you mentioned. Fix the defensive game a bit, maybe spark Meier and some other guys, bring a little stability to the goaltending. These are all possible.
Benching Luke Hughes would be stupid. As much as he’s had his struggles he’s wayy better than Smith or even Bahl or Siegenthaler. As I said ease up his minutes and PP time and have him playing a safe sound game for a while. There’s no reason he has to be on pp1 if he’s playing and completely benching him is jumping to an extreme and over multiple first steps. Would hurt the team. Ideally Hatakka is up to and you’re running some variation like this.
Hughes Marino
Hattaka Nemec
Bahl/Siegs Miller
Find what pairings work best and play them based on who’s doing the best on a game by game and period by period basis.
Saying the season is 100% cooked is stupid tho. We’re a coaching change and a decent winning run away from feeling 1000 times better about things and our chances.
