I like how there is widespread consensus that Green is not quality coach but there is little discussion about Fitz’ ability to hire a quality replacement given he’s the one that chose these two clowns over Brunette.

What does Green have to do with Brunette when he was gone when he was hired?

Sorry, it’s not a shocker that Lindy kept his job after a 112 point season either.

Fitz to this thread title:

I think there is some merit to the offense looking like ass because brunette departed.

They played exactly how Florida played the year they had brunette

Sure, Brunette is presumably a tough loss but Nashville hired him away in May. That can happen with ACs.

IMO, it’s not realistic to have expected Fitz to have fired Lindy to shield Brunette from potential poachers.

And while the drunken golf cart incident was more goofy than sinister the Feb 1st DUI arrest didn’t help this unlikely hypothetical.

Firing fitz would be stupid.

What exactly was he supposed to do ? Pay out the nose for a band aid in net.

I have no problem with fitz

A little bit of it is a young team trying to learning how to deal with adversity when you are the team that expected to win night in and night out. A little bit of it is unlucky/injuries etc

A lot of it is coaching I believe

If fitz runs it back with ruff and company next year then he should absolutely be on the hot seat

Burnette also isn't really lighting the world on fire in Nashville either. A decent chunk of that fanbase think he was a bad hire.

Issue is Ruff is still here. This didn't need to be a lost season. FFS it still doesn't. The East bubble isn't good. Philly refuses to pull away despite us doing our best to help them.

Ruff and his system being a major problem was evident. You can't control injuries and the goalie situation is a separate headache, but a coaching change could have been made to try and spark this team into the playoffs.

There is zero benefit to letting Ruff finish this season and honestly there is potential to do actual long term harm letting him get to game 82.

Fitz has to make a move or you absolutely have to question his judgment and his vision for this team.

We 100% do not have a winner the way the team is being asked to play with the pieces they have.

Future is not bright

I really don’t need to hear about Brunette ever again. If everything that has gone wrong for us this year went wrong with him as the coach, it wouldn’t change a whole lot. What exactly would his answer be for this version of Jack? Maybe a few things would be better at the margins but the big blows we’ve been dealt have just killed us.

I would literally trade Travis Green for anybody that’s currently working other than the obvious one on Long Island.

The only guys I wouldn’t want over Green aren’t working an on NHL coaching staff anymore and haven’t for years. Adam Oates. Doug Weight. Maybe Disco Dan. I haven’t seen him working an NHL bench since that time he was an assistant on the historically bad Red Wings before the COVID pause. I think he even took a head coaching AHL job after that. I wouldn’t want him over Green either. It didn’t take long for him to stop getting work in the NHL, especially for a cup winning head coach.

John Hynes? We can trade Green for him. One for one.

David Quinn? Him too. Especially if Quinn is just assistant.

Say what you want about Ruff but he responded like a man during th post game interview. He is a good guy but he lost this team when we dropped the puck this season.

Sorry but for now I blame the GM for the coach, the softness and the goalie situation. At least some of the issues should have been addressed.

And some folks think the team is missing Tatar and Boquist who would not do anything for much of what seems to be ailing them. It’s tough to know what choices Fitz had after last season. I’m sure some of what has then where they are is holding cap for the young guys who will need new deals in the coming few years.

Zetterland, Sharangovich and Woods finished their checks.

I have no idea why Tatar is so popular here with a small sect. He was great last year, but he wasn’t all that great the year before that, he’s once again not great this year. He’s on the same 30 point pace this year that he was on two years ago.

And he’s 33 years old, which according to Bizz today is basically like a college boy.

Next year it’ll be fun to do the same thing when Toffoli puts up 35 goals on his new team, as he glides around at his 3 MPH pace all night long.

I didn’t realize Utica is playing right now. My guess announcement tomorrow morning then (or late tonight after everything clears out there).
