I like fitz but if he doesn’t make a coaching change now, I will like him less.
Sharangovich? We talking about the same guy?Zetterland, Sharangovich and Woods finished their checks.
can we please stop pining for turdy players?
You really think the season would be any different if we had those puds this year?
man there isnt gonna be an announcement lol the team already left for Cali
Zetterland, Sharangovich and Woods finished their checks.
Even Wood towards the end was a shell of the hitter he used to be.Not sure I agree that Shara finished his checks but the other two yes. I especially miss Wood running into the other team’s goalie

In before this gets shut down. Absolutely amazing![]()
The benefit of firing the coach now is looking at guys under a different coach to make better informed decisions moving forward. Not supporting Ruff by any means, but I really don’t see what firing him accomplishes right now. Unless someone comes in as a favor to Fitz to get a read on the room, it’s either an internal interim or you have to commit to one of the better coaches beyond this year
Team isn’t making the playoffs. On the miraculous chance they do with a coaching change, this team is not doing any significant damage. Too many holes to address that can’t (and shouldn’t) be fixed mid-season. The youth on defense shows more and more each game, chalk this up as a learning season for them and come back better next year.
In the meantime, Toffoli, Nosek, Smith, and Miller should all go for whatever you could get for them. Take a flyer on some struggling young players like Kaliyev around the league to see if you could find a spark with Hughes, Hischier, or Bratt. Find a goalie to end the year with to preserve some waiver eligibility for Daws/Schmid, maybe that can just be Kinkaid.
In the off-season, fire Ruff, add some depth with speed and edge up front, acquire a goalie, and maybe look into a lateral move like a Siegenthaler or Bahl trade to shuffle up the room.

Fair enough, but when a disappointing team fires the coach the assistant isn’t usually named the interim. It is often the AHL coach because teams want fresh eyes. There is usually no point of firing the coach if the guy helping with decision making is taking over.Until Green is named the interim coach, they win a few games to end the year, and Green gets the benefit of the doubt and given the job to start next year.
Be careful what you wish for…
I absolutely hope Ruff is gone, but at this point, just ride out the rest of the pointless season and have a fresh search in the summer.
The only viable option for interim right now in the organization is Green. The benefit of firing the coach now is looking at guys under a different coach to make better informed decisions moving forward.
These all look bad in hindsight but they were absolutely justifiable this off-season. Not to start an essay highlighting each one, but they were all shrewd asset management moves. Its just everything went wrong this year.Fitz’s questionable decisions
1. Sharangovich trade
2. Panic signing Palat
3. Timo trade and extension (hindsight 20/20)
4. Not getting a goalie this season
5. Sticking with Lindy
6. McLeod/Foote
What am I missing?
They have a former NHL head coach, Stanley Cup winning assistant coach (and technically olympic gold medal winning head coach) in Utica right now.The only viable option for interim right now in the organization is Green.
With how god awful the PP is, I don’t think I want him anywhere near HC.
Wonder if there’s an ex-HC somewhere on the books as a scout or something that’ll step down for the rest of the year, like Horacek did a couple years back.
