They have a former NHL head coach, Stanley Cup winning assistant coach (and technically olympic gold medal winning head coach) in Utica right now.
That’s an option, but what does Dineen gain out of that especially if there’s no commitment beyond this year.

It’s not like he’s been some hot shot AHL coach down there either during his tenure in Utica. Plus that also results in disrupting Utica on top of the NHL team, for what marginal benefit for this year?

It might genuinely be the best option, I’ll admit that, but I just don’t see what it changes.

You don’t turn down taking the head NHL job in the organization if you are asked to. That probably ends your coaching career if you do. If he turns it down he is out of the organization. If he takes it and they hire someone else, he is probably right back in Utica.

Disrupting the AHL team has never stopped NHL teams from bringing up the coach before.

If Lindy is coaching this team Game 1 of the 2024-25 season I will go insane. I don’t think it will happen but the further on this saga goes, the more likely it becomes.

It’s one thing if the effort is there and the team is losing but there’s too much talent and not enough effort in this situation. I don’t get the logic for keeping him. It’ll be a HUGE issue for Fitz if he does.

Lindy, Green and that goaltending coach are all garbage. We can all agree on this.

THAT SAID, they aren't the soul of the problem. This low-IQ, soft-as-Charmin squad has been soft and bullied around for YEARS prior to Ruff. This runs deeper than behind the bench. You can't have a bunch of pansies on the squad and expect to compete for a playoff spot let alone a Cup. A cultural change is needed even if it ticks off some puckbunn---I mean, fans. IDK if the higher ups have what it takes to do it tho.

The more I think about it the more I’d be in favor.

Fire Ruff and Green. Move Dineen to HC, Brylin to offensive assistant. Parent can take over Utica, move a pro scout down to assist him.

More than anything I think the team needs a shake-up. Someone who will come in and basically be a bad cop, move players off roles the current staff won’t, and not have the “I have to save my job” mentality.

what, run the team into the ground like he is doing on the Island? no thanks.

We would have no draft picks or cap space within an hour

I will admit I have a morbid curiosity about what he would do about this situation. Would he consider trading Jack? We sure would have gone through a bunch of coaches by now. Maybe Lou would be behind the bench?

One of my favorites things is to drunk cook... First don't burn down the house. Then take whatever you have on hand and make something.

Today was baby bell cheese, Jessica's hippy bullshit grain bread and prosciutto. To make a grilled cheese

Scale of 1 to 10. Maybe 5 or 6. Kinda boring. But can't blame Ruff for my ingredients.

God bless Julia Child

I like to cook but when I do it drunk I mess up. I made Thai coconut curry salmon tonight and rage ate it

Holtz would be moved probably for the worst goalie you could think of, he would probably fire Lindy but hire someone like Gallant so whatever lol

the first three of these are ridiculous.

Well, I've stepped back a bit on Palat but you could argue he went a bit overboard on the contract after losing Gaudreau but that's UFA for ya. Everything is usually an overpayment

I think quite a handful of people weren't too happy with the Palat contract when it happened. People were happy with Palat the player but felt the contract was too much term for the cap hit. Many felt it would not be good by year 3-5.

I mentioned in another thread, but I am also missing Tatar. I was hoping we'd find a way to re-sign him in the offseason, but admittedly was also disappointed in his playoff history. I was happy with Toffoli as a replacement at the time, but looking back, I think I'd rather have 2022 Tatar than 2023 Toffoli. Although Toffoli is a better goal scorer, I think he is worse in every other aspect.
