What if we, the Rangers fans of HFboards, organized a small rally outside of MSG with the intent of asking Sather to retire or his firing. I mean even if it was only 30 or 40 of us it might get in the paper, especially if we do it more than once.

Post pictures on here and get some twitter people involved and the hockey world will hear about it for sure.

Can we wear paper bags and get custom made t shirts saying Sather Sucks?

I was being sarcastic. Someone on HF organized this like three years ago and it didn't work at all. There was a rally and it was in the papers, but that didn't do anything at all. I don't even think Dolan acknowledged there was a rally.

Yes. It is that time again. Thought we needed a new Sather thread.
Keep it constructive, somewhat civil and instead try to find ways to make it happen. Start a Facebook site? Bomb Twitter? Bring out his dirty book? Write a song (or have a famous singer do it). Voodoo? Exorcism? Prayer? Whatever it takes - The Cigar Man must go. NOW
Sather is going to have to get carried out of the office. That is the only time that he will be relieved of duties.

Removing an incompetent GM requires a competent owner. The Rangers do not have that and will not have that for the foreseeable future. All you can hope for is Sather to retire sooner rather than later. The good news however is that our AGM Gorton has shown tremendous potential in the short time he has served as a GM.

In 2006 Gorton fleeced the Leafs by trading Raycroft for Rask, signed Chara, and drafted Kessel, Lucic, and Marchand. All in a matter of four months. With the Rangers he also got a decent package for a very low value Gaborik. It is assumed that that trade was entirely the work of Gorton given that Sather was in the hospital at the time.

What must it be like to have ownership that passionately, desperately wants to win championships. A devoted Mets fan, I grew up hating the Yankees and Steinbrener. You get older and experience puts naivety in it's place. You have to admire that kind of devotion to winning.

13 years. Bloody hell. What a joke.

This. Our owner is a buffoon that has run two proud franchises right into the ground.

Problem is this this team is always being remade. It's a defensive team, then a grind it out team, now they're trying to play up tempo.

Pick a style, find players that fit that style, and stay consistent.

They had it right in 2010-11 and 2011-12. The city likes that kind of blue collar, in your face, never say die team.

Jeff Gorton and Gordie Clark should just take over this show already.

True enough.

Fans of those teams should be unhappy indeed, but the incompetence of other GMs is of no consequence to Ranger fans.

I knew it'd only be a mater of time before you started showing your ugly mug around here! :p:

Great seeing you back here. Hope all is well in your end the world.

Every time I see a thread like this, I laugh, as I just did.

Do I agree? Hell yes I do. However, until the garden is virtually empty every game, season ticket sales tank, etc etc, he will never be fired. The only thing dolan knows is money, and until he REALLY starts losing it, nothing will change.

The only thing Dolan knows (or thinks he knows) is basketball. He actually leaves his GM alone to run the hockey team as he sees fit, and commits as much money to the team as that GM wants.

Sounds like a good plan, to be honest. Unless you have a poor GM.

Judging by the Knicks record, I'd wager you can state otherwise :sarcasm:

The Rangers have the 2 worst things going for them when it comes to senior management.

Nepotism and Complacency.

Dolan possesses both, Sather possesses the latter.

Theres no hunger or work ethic around here, just like the team on the ice.

Like Singin' said, the team takes its cues from management. Torts was a breath of fresh air and a mediating factor. Now, as they have been since 1994, they are a reflection of management.

And here's another oldie but goodie that 80% of NYR posters hate: Give Messier the GM spot. Hand the coaching keys back to Keenan. Graves and Leetch as assistant coaches. Yep, reliving the glory days.
