A thread that deserves to just be stickied.

It is bad move after bad move with this guy. What an absolute failure.

He will be one of the biggest black marks in NYR history for the next 100 years.

Seconding the idea to sticky this.

I think it's come to that.

The biggest problem is Dolan. Look at how Dolan destroyed the Knicks the past 15 years. In the same time he has let Sather run wild and set the team back by trading picks/youth for overpriced/aging stars

what is wrong with this roster? we are slow and soft at center. none of our top 9 centers can win faceoffs and distribute the puck to our wings with consistency. as a result, puck possession suffers and the PP struggles since it is forced to retrieve the puck at the beginning of every PP.

what does sather do? he trades away the expiring callahan contract and futures (including the *****ing 2015 1ST ROUNDER losing our shot at mcdavid, eichel, hanifin, kopecny, etc.) for ANOTHER UNDERSIZED RW. MSL isn't in a position to succeed by playing with a soft, undersized, slow center who cannot possess or distribute the puck with consistency.

sather reminds me of the Federal Reserve right now. the economy isn't growing like the Fed expects in response to the its QE policies. the economy has structural problems that won't be solved by further liquidity. structural problems require structural, not cyclical solutions.

I like this post

this guy needs to GTFO. same crap for over a decade now. he has no idea how to build a team. brings in overrated (nash, redden, drury, gomez) or aging players (richards, drury) instead of investing in youth through prospects and picks. he trades callahan's expiring contract along with futures for a player we basically already have in zuccarello. not even bring up the fact that MSL is 39 and a midget and RW. we haven't had a decent center with size, speed, and the ability to win faceoffs in the time he's been GM. center is arguable the most important position.

get this guy the **** out of here already.

To nitpick--Drury and Richards were overrated too. Without the Gomez signing we wouldn't have McDonagh. Just saying. There's a difference between signing late 20's UFA's and early 30's. Easier to move the younger guys when they don't work out. Sometimes you can turn bad UFA signings into other assets.

As a devil fan, I feel the same way about Lou.

I appreciate your remarks. You'er one of the few Devils posters on HF IMO who can look at his own team logically and at the same time even look at bitter rivals with the same logic. Truthfully I think the Rangers have a little more in the prospect tank than your team but it's not much more. Both are deserving of being towards the bottom end in the HF prospect rankings. Both Lamiorello and Sather have mortgaged a lot of their future for the now. The Rangers are not quite as old as the Devils however but even so we're still a ways away. The current team is pretty good but not really a legit contender. Great goaltending--a very solid defense but not enough offensive pop and Nash, St. Louis and Richards our most high end forwards are not getting it done. We'd be much better off if one of our top end guys was Jagr.

Dolan--his Billy Joel concerts complicating the playoff schedule. I think we'd be losing anyway but...jesus christ...Billy ****ing Joel.

Dolan and Sather are a match made in delusional heaven.

How many times can Uncle Glen go to the well and ask Jimmy to keep paying guys millions of dollars in a buyout, and then turn around and spend that money on another max contract which will in all likelihood under perform?

I know Dolan has hundred dollar bills coming out of his *** but does he really not care about wasting this much money time and time again?

The painful truth is that we will never get anywhere without making big sacrifices for young talent with elite potential. Whether that means tanking in 2016 (thanks for trading our 2015 1st, Sather), paying a high price for a horrible team's 1st, or paying for an underperforming young talent (like yakupov).

It's just so unfair that a team can have Crosby (at a sweetheart deal nonetheless) and Malkin, just because they sucked at the right time. And we'll be forced to meet these guys early in the playoffs for the next 10-15 years. It's just not fair. :shakehead

Didn't he say that if he had our money, the Rangers would win a Stanley Cup every year.

Well..why is he still employed?

I work in a corporation. I totally understand why he is still around. Smoke and Mirrors, and a boss that does not recognize Smoke and Mirrors.

Edit: more likely, it is Dolan's recognition and appreciation of Sather's game that has ensured Glen's longetivity.

I agree with you, but Rangers would never have a shot at the top 1st round picks in 2015 anyways. Unless they were planning on playing terrible next season and ending last in the league on purpose....

I hope that 3 things happens, 2 of them should be somewhat realistic at this point in time.

1: Fire Sather. We need a smart GM who thinks longterm and doesn't trade away the future for so called stars. He used to be a good trader, not anymore though... the Nash trade was even at best the first year. Now it's clear that we lost it. The St. Louis trade was stupid for many reasons. 1: Marty is an elite playmaker, he's used to having a guy who can snipe. We have literally ZERO snipers on our team. 2: he's 38 years old. We gave up a very good player and some very high picks for him wtf? Now that's thinking short term... stupid as hell. Fire Sather and promote Jeff Gorton please.

2: Lundqvist should demand a trade. He deserves so much more than what this joke of a team can givw him. He'll never win the cup in New York, not with this team.

3: trade Nash. Get his lazy ass off the team, begin rebuilding. Because I'm tired of trading for so called stars who doesn't perform well. I wanna see some young, hungry, upcoming stars and with Hank in net we'll never end up that low... plus Sather would trade his kids if needed be just to get in the playoffs, get into a 7 gm series (like always) then get eliminated in the next round.

I'm not a Fairweather fan, not at all. But I almost feel like I wanna start cheering for another team. I'd rather cheer for Edmonton (no offense to them or their fans) because they're at least exciting and got something for the future.

I won't change teams I'm too loyal, too stupid. So I guess I'll be in torment for the rest of my life, or at least until Sather goes aways. **** this team!

This isn't just directed at you as it seems to be sentiment shared by several, but why should Lundy demand a trade from a club who just agreed to pay him $8.5m a year?

Also, why does he deserve anything any more than any other player on the roster?

1. Will not happen. Dolan has basically said Sather has a job for life. Got us into the 2nd round this year which means a top 8 team in the NHL in dolans eyes. He won't be fired.

2. Will not happen. If it does happen we won't get any value in the deal back due to
A) cap hit B) Henrik will have a huge say in where he goes & C) a lot of teams are already solid with a keeper so that eliminates bidding wars. Only team IMO who would overpay for Hanks is the Flyers who have needed a keeper for years and years and years.

3. Won't happen unless we take salary dumps back. Nash scores NO goals in the playoffs, has a crap year, may or may not have injury issues from the concussion… why would any team touch Nash? I wouldn't.

Sather is useless and will forever coast on his past success. He won't be fired. He'll retire by choice, or he'll die. We won't have a chance at getting a real GM until one of those two things happens.
