Lol right? Even DJs biggest supporters here know and understand that unless this team finishes strong and basically are in a playoff spot, his fate is completely up in the air for the new owners.
If DJ and Dorion both get fired I'll definitely feel bad for them on many levels, and wont be dancing on their graves like so many others here will be. But you can also understand that the new ownership wants to start fresh on a new page with their own people. It's just business.
The only sad part about this all is those two will never get the proper credit from a lot fans for building and developing a core group of young star players that we are lucky to have.
When you see all the big misses with drafting and development around the league with top picks, it's a shame so many won't realize that we actually had the right guys at the right time to see us through the rebuild. And some lucky new GM is most likely going to inherit this monster of a team.
I certainly agree that new ownership very well might want a fresh start with new people. The logical assumption is that they'd engage hockey knowledgeable people and consult with the league prior to making decisions.
So what are they likely to find when they do that?
1. Increased engagement with the local business community that is driving revenue increases
2. Increased fan attendance that is driving revenue increases
3. A solid young core signed to at market contracts
4. Comparatively few bad money contracts, no albatross contracts
5. A players coach loved by his players
6. A top 10 team on both special teams
7. A slim hockey ops department but some respected people in key positions
8. A consensus amongst hockey people that the team is sitting on a solid foundation
As I said, I certainly understand if new ownership brings in new people, but I do think that a review of the current situation results in a different assessment of the organization than that held by some in HF Sens land.
