If Gallant is ever available lets not hire him, overrated coach
100% agree. I was a fan of his after his work in Vegas, but the dude stifles young talent. He never holds vets accountable for nights off but is extra hard on youth. Gallant isn't the reason Laf and Kakko aren't elite players yet, but he sure as heck isn't giving them opportunities to get to that point

PP went 3/5 against the #1 PK in the league.

DJ must be doing something right.

How so? We have the 9th best PP in the league.

I think we have concerns beyond that. But surely if you can attribute systemic success of the PP to DJ, then the lack of systemic success in other areas must also be his responsibility yes?

What other areas?

For as great as they were on the PP, they still have to clean it up defensively. The top 5 forwards are explosive enough to go on these great stretches of hot play like during that 4-game win streak to start the year, but the key is consistency. They are on a good roll lately, they have to keep it going for a little while longer to really get back into the playoff race. 7 points out with 4 teams ahead of them. If they could get to 14 wins by game 30 (10 thru 24 now), that would be a start.

3 games under .500 ....I know I know....but aside from a couple teams that are far too ahead the majority of teams that are out can get right in the mix if they have a solid 10 game stretch

Because DJ can’t go on the ice and score for the players. They have to score. The days of going on the ice and show Cat how to shoot stopped in PeeWee
been saying this from the start...the coach can have a flawless game plan drawn up but if the players don't fully apply/commit them selves to it then it becomes useless, players also need to be intelligent , on the other side it is the coaches job to find the most effective system that suits the team...in Ottawas case; being a young and skilled team they should be able to play any system really as to how effictely thats a whole another topic...

I know this is the DJ thread, but the amount of people ripping on DBC is a bit ridiculous.

the guy is 4th on the team in points behind our number 1 line, while playing with a centre who is currently on pace for 7 (SEVEN) assists all year.

Even still, the "VERY UNDER PERFORMING" DBC and Batherson each have 19 points in 24 games.

On pace for 65 points each, on the 2nd line! and yet we're treating DBC like he isn't worth the price we paid or are currently paying him...

Guys, he currently makes 6.4!!!!!! Everyone is evaluating him based on an arbitrary QO that, newsflash, he clearly isn't worth, but we also AREN'T REQUIRED TO SIGN HIM TO IT!

If we can't come to agreeable terms, far lower than the 9M QO, then trade him! it isn't that hard.

Also, if he isn't willing to sign for like... 7-7.5 after only scoring 25 ish goals, then clearly he isn't looking for a competitive team, and just wants the bag. so trade him.

Thats why people never take you seriously
When they lose its execution problem
When they win its DJ doing something right
:help:
If it's an execution problem..then 3/4 of the team is dumb, can't hockey and needs to be removed....or DJ can't coach.
