NYI and Winnipeg get great goaltending and not too much talk about them. Just another thing I noticed. That's interesting, isn't it? Not exactly the results you'd expect for a team with a coaching problem.
Stranger things have happened, but I want to see you smile again my friendDJ is a "dead man walking" at this point. Dorion too.
Coaching is definitely a problem. But it's not the only problem.
Dump and chase, you need the players playing hard and aggressive. Dog on a bone mentality. I don't see that on the ice. We have no swagger or hustle at all.
We need guys out there to start banging bodies again and move their feet.
Somehow these expected goals and high-danger shot rates always suggest we’re better than our record.
It seems to me that we don’t pounce on rebounds or deflect shots as much. Do we just not have a plan to crowd the crease when we get these shots?

Timely defending has been the teams biggest issue. Undisciplined plays, careless turnovers. Been the teams biggest Achilles heal and I think when those mistakes are made over and over again that's reflected on the coach.Ya that’s been the narrative though, are stats show we should be higher, partly due to 1 goal losses, and not getting the timely goals would be a couple of reasons, obviously others.

Probably PIT and the P and I are combining into an RWhat is RT, the yellow square?
Most teams in the top right are good. The exceptions are Ottawa and the Rangers who are 9th in the eastern conference.
I was thinking it might be PIT. At least Pittsburgh has a "T".Probably PIT and the P and I are combining into an R
It's definitely Pens, the kerning in whatever typeface they used is messed up, look at FLa for example, the F and L are attached but it doesn't look as weird because it doesn't create a letter that already exists.I was thinking it might be PIT. At least Pittsburgh has a "T".
Ya below the average, NHL average is 20% when trailing after 2.DJ is 7-90-10 when trailing after two periods
take that in

Since when, this year, since last year, all time, a little context.below the average is putting it lightly
They are bottom 2 with Det
Not a particularly good stat to analyze for a team that was bottoming out for draft picks. I mean, what else would you expect from a team that had that many bottom of the standings finishes?DJ is 7-90-10 when trailing after two periods

What stats WOULD be good ones to analyze to evaluate DJ Smith as a coach? Not a particularly good stat to analyze for a team that was bottoming out for draft picks. I mean, what else would you expect from a team that had that many bottom of the standings finishes?
Even if we all agreed he was doing a shit job as a coach this year, lording that stat over him like we didn't have one of the worst rosters for 5 years running is beyond ridiculous. Why is it so hard to understand that both things can be true at the same time? What stats WOULD be good ones to analyze to evaluate DJ Smith as a coach?
As nearly as I can tell, any stat or argument put forth is always countered with "they were in the midst of a tear it down rebuild ... of course <whatever stat> looks bad"
I agree that it's not a good stat to use to evaluate him, for a number of reasons. So I am not "lording it over him".Even if we all agreed he was doing a shit job as a coach this year, lording that stat over him like we didn't have one of the worst rosters for 5 years running is beyond ridiculous. Agree with you, when your a rebuilding team , you will be below the 20% average.
