Dump and chase only works if you recover more pucks than you turn over. Usually a plan accompanies dumping it in.... Its not just throw it somewhere in there and hope we get it.

When Melnyk should have fired Dorion.. he got a 3 year extension... When Dorion should have fired DJ ...
Yes, I've heard coaches and players mention that they dump in it in to "a space". In other words, its a plan and the defense and forwards know where the puck is supposed to go. There would have to be some situational awareness involved as well i.e., is there a player in position and skating with some momentum and speed to fetch the puck in the location where its going to be dumped to.

That's a move that should have happened last year. Instead, we prevented him from interviewing with other teams.

The team is waiting it out until ownership changes, we'll get new coaching along with a new GM then. I don't see any changes until that happens.
Crazy hey

We look alright when we start a game and getting it deep and knocking bodies is all we need to do. But when DJ actually has to make an adjustment. We look atrocious. There’s no reason to look like we did in the third last night. Like. Our players are one thing but I’m not sure the coach knows the meaning of must win either.

"We've had a plan since we started this rebuild. I feel that we're in the next stage now, it's time to start to win," he said, according to TSN 1200 Ottawa.

That was last season sept 7 2021

Do you know what that means?lol

You said'' its the first year where management wants to see some wins''
You are wrong

Its not the end of the world you are just wrong that's all

I know you will try to spin it all you can but the facts are the facts

To quote a famous HFer:
''Man, I guess I can understand why you're pissed''

Dorion says the team is entering another zone. He was wrong but right: The Twilight Zone.

Bizarre ownership and management moves.

That’s not really telling though considering we were actively tanking for draft position for 3 season straight. This is the first season where management actually wants to see some wins.

There isn’t much value looking at wins/losses without context in this particular instance.

If we were tanking for 3 seasons why did our coach grind our star defenseman into sawdust by playing 30 minutes on so many nights?

Because coaches and players always try and win games to some degree. It’s the GM that fills the roster with character vets devoid of skill to make it near impossible to actually get wins.

You can’t really expect players and coaches to try and win, or basically throw games to get high picks. This is pretty much the first time DJ has had a somewhat competitive lineup.

Like everyone else I the planet, I don’t think he’s been doing a great job, along with most players of the team. It hasn’t looked good.

The new coach has a lot of work cut for him with this squad.
What needs to be done.

-Zone entries and breakouts. It looks like it never practiced at all.

-Fixing defense pairings and their function.

-Implementing a working system. For example DeBrincat needs a setup center. Should be playing with Stutzle all the time to create chemistry.

-Fixing PP and zone entries, setup plays.

-Fixing forward defense, Stutzle has to be two way center and needs to be a defensively better with a total awareness.

-Fixing overall speed and puck pressure plays.

-The team has to get a message to play a structural game and being accountable for errors.
Not benching anyone, does not work.

The team is a mess since DJ came over. Looks like he does absolutely nothing and just cruising in to cash the checks..

DJ is a "dead man walking" at this point. Dorion too.

I don't understand, all I see in here are posts about the dumpster fire coaching this team has. Shouldn't we be near last across the board in those categories to match our place in the standings?
Ya that’s been the narrative though, are stats show we should be higher, partly due to 1 goal losses, and not getting the timely goals would be a couple of reasons, obviously others.
