This season is spoiled anyway; fresh start next year with new ownership, new GM, new coach.

The point is Dorion could have made a change 10 games ago when it was clear DJ wasn't the man for the job and at least given them a chance to turn things around. He instead chose to go down with the DJ ship and now they're struggling to keep hold of the floating door.

Silver-lining had he made the change and they actually played well then Dorion might have saved his job.
This way it will be a clean house.

Out: Debrincat (not an 8M player, let alone 9), Motte, Brassard, Gambrell, Brannstrom, Holden, Hamonic, Zaitsev, Smith (can't coach), Dorion (might need to rebuild the rebuild soon to assemble a .500 team... Despite inheriting prime Karlsson, Stone, Turris, Hoffman, young Zibby, Chabot, Pageau, Ceci, Dzingel, etc.)

In: Bedard, Parayko, Gibson

Tkachuk - Stützle - Bedard
Giroux - Norris - Batherson
Formenton - Pinto - Greig/Soko
Joseph - Kastelic - Crookshank

Chabot - Parayko
Sanderson - Zub
Kleven - JBD

DJ's post game comments yesterday were pathetic. He said something along the lines of "We try really hard and play really well but the other teams' goalies always seem to have great games."

If that happened once and a while, you could say the other team's goalie was having a great game. When it happens every, single, freaking, game then you have to ask yourself if what you're doing might be the problem. It just illustrates that he is in over his head and has no clue what to change that could possibly make a difference.

Just like Alfie talking about his first coach, we’ll look back at this with the realization that he just wasn’t ready for this job yet

And to think we used to complain about B. Murray. He was a saint compared to his successor.

For all of his flaws, he at least had gravitas. This five years (and running) travesty + loyalty to mediocrity bull would never fly under him.

I'm shocked he hasn't been let go yet. Something tells me Dorion knows his rope has run out and this is his last stand. But then he's not exactly reacting with anything other than a call up or two, so who even knows. Confusing to say the least that DJ is still here.

A team in flux, without real owners, isn’t gonna to be making any/many organizational moves.

DJ possibly will go, because it’s an easy in house replacement.

The board isn’t going to be rushing to shake the organizational branches with a sale looming.

Now it's too late, the season is lost. So what? Change for an interim coach to win games and finish with pick 10? What is more important, lottery pick in a very good draft or to think mental health and good habits for ours players? Difficult choice to make.

Ya I understand all that and it makes sense, I guess I would have thought Dorion would be at least a little more aggressive trying to save his job with some sort of personnel move, not that there's realistically much chance of him staying either way.

I just can't believe they haven't at least replaced DJ on an interim basis at minimum. It's turned into a pit of despair before November is even over and you have to do something, anything really.

You're acting like that won't happen with DJ as well. Did you not watch the last two seasons?

DJ or no DJ, we probably aren't finishing bottom 5. We're not getting Bedard/Fantilli unless we get that dumb lottery luck that the Rangers and Devils seem to get every year.

You say this almost like you don't wish with every ounce and fibre of your being that both Dorion and DJ would get fired. Why do you care if Dorion is going down with the DJ ship?

I'm holding out hope for a conspiracy where the NHL gets some amazing new ownership with celebrity tie-in and then the Senators actually win the #1 overall pick and it's nothing but good headlines and NHL promotion for the next few years. I mean, the lottery is fixed right? Lol

What do you expect when nobody in the media actually presses him on anything. Why is a 6-12-1 coach getting buttered up in the post-game presser?

There are many problems with the media in Toronto/Montreal, but at least their prominent media guys aren't saying shit like "Well you gotta feel like you deserve better" when the team is basically in dead last for 4 straight years.

The others years i saw motivation, competitive spirit, this year i see disillusionment. The expectations were not the same, for us and above all for the players themselves. So i don't know how the players will react later in the season if DJ stays.
