At this point, do we even want him fired?

This draft coming up could be the one where we get our "Makar".
I have zero faith in us winning a lottery and DJ will get this team to go on a meaningless winning streak in March/April anyways.

I'm more worried about the losing culture and mentality he's instilling in the months that matter. This is the least clutch team I've ever watched. The powerplays we get when we have a chance to get back in a game are completely lifeless and we have to endure "just didn't get the bounces" excuses when the game is over.

From an outsiders perspective, you can't win without good defense and your two top guys are injured and you're depending on very inexperienced players. Same thing in Vancouver. The fault is the GM not so much the coach.

It's not that we're losing, it's how we're losing. If DJ hasn't already lost the room, it's coming. There's no support, guys are mailing it in, we play as individuals not as a team.

If you're using analytics to defend DJ, please take this into consideration. It's quite clear there's no system here. He's a junior coach who has no business in the NHL.

Sobering but not surprising.

He also says he wants to play a puck possession game but forces the players to give the puck away all game.

We should be deadly off the rush with speed but we are standing still and look slow AF out there.

He may singlehandedly ensure AD doesn't want to come back.

The GM has publicly defended him. The captain has publicly defended him. I really don't see this guy getting fired in the short term.

I wish we could have seen them start the season without key injuries. Norris, Zub, and Chabot. I know teams go through injuries and they are inevitable. I think we would be about 8-8-1 instead of 6-10-1. But none of that matters we are where we are. Hard to believe after being 4-2 early in the season we are 6-10-1. Today was the worst game they have played this season. They looked flat from minute one.

Did anyone think DJ was the coach to take this team to the next level?

He was a good coach for where they were at introducing new players into the league. This team cannot execute basic fundamentals and he's had lots of these guys 3 - 4 years. Its probably at a point now where he is hurting more than helping. A new coach, when that happens will have a bit of teaching to do that should already be well engrained. New ownership likely happens first and bigger changes occur as well. If Dorion is allowed to make a coaching change it should not be just to replace DJ with Cap.

The Devils finished 10 points BEHIND the Sens last season, DJ is running a country club. Has absolutely no IQ for this job or willingness to learn.

Is there any area on this team (offence, defence, special teams) where you can say DJ is getting more out of them than another coach would?

We threaten nobody.

You are sugarcoating as usual. DJ was always a hot garbage coach and had no willingness to learn the league and to improve. I frankly believe, he has no coaching IQ, looking at the past seasons and his roster decisions and a style of play.

I was being generous and used the wrong words to convey my message. I never thought he was a good coach to be clear.

At this point, if the goal is for us to tank for a high pick. Keep DJ, he'll get us into decent odds for the lotto.

Might piss off a few players, but hey its a part of the long game

We'll start winning in January once the team feels no pressure and the games don't matter and ruin the draft position. I've already accepted that.

the people that kept pointing to advanced stats are getting a lot more quiet. As the sample size of games increases we will see the Sens stats move to the bottom of the league

I take you to mean the draft pick that finishes off the rebuild?

Unfortunately this draft seems very shallow in high end D.

A game breaking forward can’t hurt though.
