So is Julien maybe not even available? Garrioch is saying he's working for the Blues

I think Garrioch is just saying that the fact that Julien was in attendance was just a reflection of his current post with the blues and not any indication that either he or we are interested in him becoming the teams coach.

Basically don't read into him being there, doesn't mean he isn't a candidate if DJ get hired, just that nothing is in the works yet

We gonna fire DJ then hire him again?!?!?!? :(

I wonder if anything happens if we lose on Saturday, considering we head out for the west coast road trip immediately after.
Nothings happening until ownership is finalized I'd imagine. Which instead of making a major roster move and speeding up the rebuild pre maturity a new coach would go alot further.

This teams had so much turnover and its not seen the improvements necessary. The message has gone stale they're playing worse every game. I like DJ but this team needs a new voice.

I’m curious to see Zub in while Chabot is out. Pairings would be interesting

Sanderson Hamonic
Brannstrom Zub
Holden JBD

Maybe give JBD some reps with Sanderson to keep Hamonic around 17 minutes.

This is hilarious, considering fans love to complain about turtling when we have a lead.

Young roster with only one seasoned veteran in a leadership role.

This team needs a player-only meeting. Brady, captain the ship, you fool. Or let Giroux take the reigns.

I mean third round and Ty Smith for Marino? WTF? Sens could offer much more. And also, Devils are superbly coached. And have a great GM, who addressed not one, but four needs for defense. Dorion did nothing. Devils play swarm defense, when all 5 collapsing on the puck transporter. I do not get it. Sens played the last season -the last 40 games exactly the same structured game. What changed? So frustrating. I am sick, when they are again playing for a top draft pick for new owners.

Probably because the 4th line was really good last game. Motte was the worst forward last game. Maybe he needs a night off for Kastelic.

I dont think Dorion is the man for the job but what are you talking about? They added Giroux, Debrincat, Motte and Talbot.

That looks pretty good to me... Id probably just switch in Chabot for Brannstrom once he is back and keep the same 6.

Lol @ Boudreau. People complain DJ can’t institute structure, Boudreau can’t spell structure.
Not a fan of Boudreau at all either

He can get teams scoring, but he has zero defensive structure. Having deep defenses and an elite two way guy like Getzlaf in Anaheim covered up his holes, but Boudreau let Ovie develop some shite habits

We didn’t want to pay him the money he was owed given our cap. Simple as that .

Not saying it wasn’t a mistake but that’s the reason why

I mentioned wanting Marino several times before he was dealt. It never made sense to me how Chychrun at 4.600 was being looked at, while Marino at 4.400 wasn't. It's looking like one of the worst non-moves possible right now.

Adam Larsson is another good option, but Seattle isn't doing poorly and won't trade him.
Parayko could work but he has a hell of a contract
Mayfield might be available for offence
I do not want Tyler Myers
Andersson or Tanev from Calgary would work
There's Connor Murphy but I'm not sure he's better than Hamonic
DeMelo would be good but idk if he's available.

I don't think it's realistic to upgrade the top 4 RD. There simply isn't anyone out there that could be acquired. I can't see that changing.

That doesn't mean we can't upgrade the defense. You could go after a Gavrikov or Edmundson and balance the pairings out a bit more. For example:

Gavrikov - Zub
Chabot - Bernard-Docker
Sanderson - Hamonic

All three pairings could, hypothetically, play ~20 minutes a night.

I feel like Gambrell has taken a step forward this year. Watch out :sarcasm:

I know you're kidding but...

Kastelic had a great camp and people wanted to see him seize the 4rth line spot but it overshadowed how good Gambrell was in pre-season as well. I thought he was much better in pre-season than last year and last year his line was fairly good for the last 15 games or so.

He plays with a lot of pace and he seems to be pushing the play a lot, if he can start converting a little more it'll be good to have him in the lineup since he's more reliable than Kastelic defensively.

Kastelic is good but inconsistent still, understandable, but we need commitment to defensive play and Kasty is often out of position or puts himself out of play to hit. I love Kasty but we need to win games.

Haha, I was being humourous to hide my true opinion that, yes, Gambrell is an underrated player. I'm glad you had the confidence to share your observations, unlike me.

Gambrell was used as a matchup centre against the top lines of opposing teams last year, and finished the season +2. He's actually pretty good, and I do actually believe that he has taken a step forward this year...
