Fischer really needs to stop matching up Canonica against Lundel.

This. Amongst many other things. Coaching is below stupid. This Finnland team is beatable but not like this:surrender

Marchand, Schläpfer, Knak/Hofer
Jobin, Allenspach, Knak/Hofer
Bottini, Biasca, Fust
Derungs, Canonica, Dähler

Is what it should look like. Look how far away we're from this:help:

the proverbial swiss cheese.

Finns will be a tough game for us jj, every year they just stick to their style of play. Responsible defensively, tough to get clean grade A chances against them, and a solid PP are general patterns of their play. The shell type D they’re known for is harder on small ice for them to execute, but they’re adapting. Realistically, they haven’t played a pure shell type D in close to a decade now.

Outside of Lambert and Lundell, they don’t seem to have some of the game breakers they’ve had in recent years though. It’s not just their systems, the Finns have good skill players year after year now.

That last goal was a beauty. They’ll be a strong test for us in the last game of the RR.

oh, I never look past them or dismiss them snipes, I know the Finns all too well.

You don't have to worry about me getting comfortable with them.

They have better puck movers than guys like Dehrungs though...

:surrender:surrender:surrender

...or maybe the plan is to beat Finnland while leaning on our worst players...to be able to humiliate Finnland and make fun of them afterwards. Our coaching would make a lot of sense if that's the genius plan:laugh:

I know you don’t. You’re a knowledgeable guy with our international opponents as well.

They’re a lot like Canadians in many respects. Finns are tough, resilient, and proud people a lot like we are. They’re a major hockey power and should never be underestimated at any level.

They’ve got their own Finnish “sisu” built into their culture which is similar to our heart and soul type of hockey we love. If we have a fighting breath within us, it’s never over.

I think whoever gets them in the Quarters (assuming we win — which is never an assumption we should make with the Finns) from the other side likely the Americans or Swedes should be very nervous playing them. I anticipate them “upsetting” one of those teams.
