You may not believe me, but this is the truth:
- Long time ago, randomly I watched a playoffs game of a Vancouver game. In that game, there's a player that completely amazed me. I was certain that he would be a star. It turns out that he's Pavel Bure. I didn't know him before that game.
- Few years ago, I watched an Avalanches playoffs game. Makar impressed me big time. I knew he'll be good. This time, I've heard his name a bit before the game, but I didn't expect that he's that good.
- Few years ago, I just watched Habs development camp in summer (or maybe rookie camp). I saw Kotkaniemi playing. After the scrimmage, I told my friends that he's not good. And of course, my friends laughed at me coz it's just a scrimmage in summer.
- Years ago, I watched Mysak playing. In in 2 games, I knew that guy can't play in NHL.
My point: in certain cases (not always), we don't need to watch a player 100 games to know about his future. Sometimes, just a glimpse to his play, and we already know how good or bad the player is. In just few games, we may know if the player is talented or not.
And after watching Mesar about 4-5 games, I know that Mesar won't be good. If we are lucky, then Mesar turns out a decent 3rd liner.
Mesar, being a 1st-rounder, might still have a certain value. If I have an offer for a 2nd or 3rd pick for Mesar, I'd do it without thinking twice.
