Or he has tools but not the toolbox.

I haven't seen anything indicating he has had issues integrating socially. I'd even say the way you talk about him sounds quite insulting. Being from a small village doesn't mean you're some rude socially awkward outcast. No need to do personality assassination.

I was born in a small village, its not about being socially awkward, things are done differently in villages, the way you express yourself, the stuff you say and don't say in social environments. You tend to be more direct, speak more your mind and have less filters and you do that not knowing it could be perceived the badly. He was assistant captain for Slovakia but in NA he's not getting the same love.

And you have these comments from his Kitchener teammates telling him to "stop it" and to "not do that again". Went from 4 pts in his first night to be a 3rd liner. He's now playing a few minutes per night while Beck is on the PP, PK, 1st line and 2nd line and got a few call ups too. I like Beck but offensively Mesar is a hella of alot more gifted.

Not sure why you would accuse me of trying to assassinate his character... this is a pretty bold and short sighted assessment with what i am bringing forward as arguments.

Did he not say he had a girlfriend to the media this summer? Fact
Did he not talk about Slaf's bedrooms? Fact
Was Slaf not pissed about it? Fact

He was 5 on 5 at the start of the season ... now he's playing 8 mins a night and his teammates aren't passing him the puck.

Please don't accuse me of being insulting or having a negative agenda, Im just reporting facts and commenting on them.

He's been playing hockey in Poprad (which is not a small village) since he was 13. He's been in international competition (meaning even broader range of teammates/public) since he was 14-15.

The only place he's been an "A" AFAIK is the WJC U20 which doesn't mean much.

You supplied random comment sections for which I have no context for and that haven't resulted in waves in the relevant media that I know of. Without context, it just seems like teenage banter.

That Slafkovsky stuff is a nothing burger.

He was higher in the lineup (just like in Kitchener) because of his pedigree and raw skills. Then he went down because he doesn't actually play to the level his skills dictate.

You spent so much time pumping his tires (including when all those "incidents" happened) and then you suddenly did a 180 and started finding him flaws when he fumbled after returning from injury (and then getting injured again). It's just a very weird turnaround, especially timing wise.

Demidov: Generational
Slaf: Twilight Zone
Mesar: Greek Tragedy

But I was asking @zzoo, the Nostradamus poster, not yourself. You're the opposite of Nostradamus, if I've ever seen one, as this thread amply demonstrates. (And I tried restraining you via a PM many months ago, but you weren't listening.) Given that and your assessment above, we now must fear for Demidov to be a Yakupov-level bust.

By the way, Spišská Belá, while no metropolis, ain't no "village", either. It's a classic small town. Here's a nice aerial image of it, with Slovakia's famed High Tatras mountain range behind it:

As mentioned by others, Mešár played for Poprad, the city (50k or so) at the foot of the Tatras.

Most beautiful photo on this forum in a while.

From his wikipedia he was born in a very small town of 6000 people from Slovakia.

It looks like cultural differences and social skills, he’s not jelling with his Laval teammates and he dint jell with kitchener.

He needs to be coached in many things outside of hockey and probably doesn’t realise he needs to do alot of work on his own to bring himself up to speed.

Like who says they got a new girlfriend in front of the media? Or talks about other players bed room counts or how much money they make.

Hes got the skills but if he busts its because of his mindset unfortunately and that seems like an area the team is not looking to help him with.

A trde to a small market team will be the best for him or lets give him one more shot next year.

The talent is there
You make it sound like he is from Narnia.. small town kids tend to make the NHL bc they've had to work hard for everything they want.. thats why (very rarely) few NHLers are from big cities.
He simply has an attitude problem, no amount of private tutors are going to help him, until he's ready to admit he's the issue.
In all my years, ive never seen a small player (which i dont like to begin with) have utterly no drive. typically the small guys are full of drive, ready to prove you wrong..
He'll be swapped with an equally useless AHL plug.. it's a lost pick.. let it go..
My only hope is the Scouting department learned a valuable lesson - never again..

Reactions: The Gr8 Dane
This was the lineup last game:

Farrell - Condotta - Barre-Boulet
HarveyPinard - Beck - Roy
Davidson - Xhekaj - Mesar
Kidney - Beaucage

Farrel on the first PP

Not saying Mesar is not struggling but can we compare apples with apples? When was the last time Mesar played on the first line or first PP ?

He played well the first few games, then got hurt but he never got an opportunity to showcase his talent with the best players of the team like everyone else did. He's the only one not getting any opportunities. I remember in one of the pre-season games he din't even get a shot at the 3v3 OT.... but was used on the SO? Make it make sense..

Me no comprende
Maybe your assessment of him was just plain wrong?

I think that once he's healthier, they should give him a chance on the PP.

That said, an alleged skilled forward in the AHL in his D+3 should be able to produce with Xhekaj and Davidson. Not at an incredible clip, but a decent one. For example, both of Davidson and Xhekaj are able to produce, and neither are on the first line.

You and the Habs both. Don't know how they didn't filter for the character part, especially considering we scouted and drafted Slaf

I disagree.

To me, it seems obvious that filtering for character in 18 year olds must be incredibly difficult, and that everybody would make regular errors.

A friend of mine pointed out something similar about hiring 25 year olds when he was starting his latest company. Nobody really knows how to hire people, the literature is all made up BS.
