DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!? Yea, you have to wonder if this is a concussion then, because this is some 180 to do with two games left. And apparently he wasn't just here in NY, he was back home training still. What a job by Drury if this guys come outta the tunnel in game one to Tolleson's "Here they arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre, the New York Rangers!" I can kiss Drury. RW1, please. No need to rotate anybody off line three. Let them be a below the hash, cycle line that is strong defensively. Please God, let Fil be okay.
What else would it be if not concussion? Neck?

Some people are insinuating he never had a setback and it was made up to get him on LTIR.
I don't think that's possible.. don't they check and test these things?

So...

Panarin & Lafreniere - Trochek - ______
Kreider - Chytil -Vesey
Cuylle - Zibanejad- Kakko
Rempe - Goodrow - Brodzinski/Edstrum

Roslovic the odd man out

At least, that's what I'd try first.
I would put rempe with chytil for protection

Yes let’s play an ahl player in playoff games. /s
If he’s not capable of taking a hit, he’s not playing.
If we play rempe we’re basically playing shorthanded every shift.

Cheap shots haven’t been the cause for most of Chytil’s injuries so playing him with Rempe is pointless. Not only is it pointless, but if somebody didn’t want to cheap shot Chytil, Rempe’s presence isn’t going to make anyone think twice.

The Rangers have a minimum of a 4 day break after Monday nights game which means a day off Tuesday and then a robust training schedule before their first playoff game. Plenty of time to gauge Chytil’s progress and give him time to find a proper role.

No question, if he is healthy, this makes the Rangers a better team.

I had that nagging feeling in the back of my mind. NO ONE SAW WHAT HAPPENED. Not even a single player talked about what happened so far as I saw. He supposedly tripped and fell and …. was put on LTIR allowing Drury cap space for a couple of moves. I really think they just decided out of caution and cap concerns to shelf him for the regular season. Think about it: if he played games and had a setback after the TDL we would have been screwed. This was a safer bet.
I honestly think the last setback never happened.
Im not a big conspiracy guy, but i also read into that after it happened. The whole thing just seemed odd.

Its definitely more plausible that there may be truth to that now, but im not sure why they would have to go that route and fake something when they didnt need to provide an explanation and just LTIR him.

Again, I dont know why they would have to make up a story

However what makes you think is Chytil going from out for the season, nowhere to be seen and discussions about his career - to having his locker restocked and then suddenly jumping into full contact practice out of nowhere a week before playoffs.

I mean its possible he was skating on his own for a while, but even with injuries to Fox & Kakko (and I believe Lindgren for a day and Trouba as well) we saw them come back in a red first for a week before going full. It doesnt follow the pattern.

But whatever, who cares. If he plays its goddamn awesome

And I get people saying “why would they make it up?” But once they had announced he was medically cleared are they actually allowed to keep him on LTIR for the rest of the season? Maybe they cleared him, but Fil was still a little hesitant, or any other number of minor concerns so they just said “f*** it, let’s not take a chance.” At that point, sure they are allowed to sit him, but if he’s medically cleared can they use the cap space? I don’t think so.
Whatever anyone wants to think, it was beyond super weird that NOBODY actually saw anything or talked about what actually happened. There were some observers/reporters AT THE PRACTICE. Nobody saw a goddamn thing. Hahahaha.

More from the Athletic:

He is medically cleared, per a person briefed on the matter, but there is still no timetable for his return to game action. A playoff return has not been ruled out, but the team’s first priority is Chytil’s health. It won’t rush a recovery.
Chytil playing in Game 1 of the first round is unlikely, and there’s no guarantee he will play at all. But he has been feeling good, according to a person close to the player, and wanted to return to skating with the team.
He could potentially center the third line between Will Cuylle and Kaapo Kakko, which would allow Alex Wennberg to play on the fourth line. Having centers Mika Zibanejad, Vincent Trocheck, Chytil and Wennberg in the lineup would give the Rangers formidable depth up the middle, which is a common trait among teams who make deep playoff runs.

This reads like a very generic article that just wants to urge caution for the sake of caution. How about him explaining why Chytil is taking full contact if all he wanted to do was skate with the team? It seems pretty clear he is getting ready to play, and likely soon, or he would just be skating around cautiously in a non-contact jersey.

Yeah I think this is logical.

I agree, those clips from practice are very telling IMO. They can't come right out and say "yeah he's ready to go" since they can't activate him until the regular season ends, so a lot of "we'll see".

Exactly how I feel.

I don’t know why writers need to take that angle just to “save the fans from getting too excited”

Am I just being pessimistic but how is this fragile guy who hasn’t played real hockey in months the key to us getting better at 5v5 or starting games awake? He’s surely has a bunch of rust to shake off….do we want to have him work this out in the PO’s? We’re not talking Sid or McDavid here.
