This is the best news I have heard since OJ died. Having Chytil back gives us more depth up front. He can play effectively on all 3 lines, at all 3 positions. He helps the PP and PK. It was great to see him on the ice today!

Looking towards the off-season, I know this won't be a popular position to take, but this is a business first. If Chytil can prove to be productive and healthy Drury should look to move him. With 1 year left on his contract, it's highly unlikely he won't be re-signed. The Rangers could get a pick and maybe a mid-level prospect back in return. Better than nothing.

He is NOT doing contact drills if he isnt playing LMAO

Kreider Mika Chytil?

I’d start him there and scratch Roslovic unless he shows major improvement in the last two games. If Chytil doesn’t look good in that spot, you could put him in Wennberg’s spot, drop Wennberg to the 4th line, and put Vesey on Zibanejad’s line. It’s the playoffs, so they can’t afford to give him a few games to gel with Zibanejad and Kreider.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!? Yea, you have to wonder if this is a concussion then, because this is some 180 to do with two games left. And apparently he wasn't just here in NY, he was back home training still. What a job by Drury if this guys come outta the tunnel in game one to Tolleson's "Here they arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre, the New York Rangers!" I can kiss Drury. RW1, please. No need to rotate anybody off line three. Let them be a below the hash, cycle line that is strong defensively. Please God, let Fil be okay.

So...

Panarin & Lafreniere - Trochek - ______
Kreider - Chytil -Vesey
Cuylle - Zibanejad- Kakko
Rempe - Goodrow - Brodzinski/Edstrum

Roslovic the odd man out

At least, that's what I'd try first.

If Fil suits up for Game 1, he better get a standing ovation from the Garden crowd when he steps on the ice. Better yet, have him start the game and announce him. Would be an epic moment in Ranger lore.
I appreciate the thought... but lets try to not intentionally flash him with bright lights and loud noises for as long as possible.

Where would Wennberg go - 4th line? And you’re keeping Roslovic with Zibanejad?
You can put pretty much ANYONE with 20-93 and get the same result. THEY DONT CLICK WITH ANYONE. Hahaha. That’s the point of my joke about Fil suffering enough. That wing is a f***ing graveyard. Has been for literally years.

My inclination would be to put Chytil with Kakko. Getting that third line to actually score a bit would be huge.

But then again the first line is crap also. If Chytil could get the first line going, even better. But I’m not sure he can or anyone can. That’s a Mika/Chris problem.

I lean this way:

Kreider Mika Vesey
Panarin Trocheck Lafreniere
Cuylle Chytil Kakko
Goodrow Wennburg Roslovic Rempe

Lindgren Fox
Miller Schneider
Jones Trouba

Sorry Gus, Jones has to play
I think we’d be wasting Fil putting him with 93-20. I have no faith at all in them clicking with anyone.

If he had any issues with lights, noises, or contact, he’d by nowhere near the ice right now. He’s fully cleared medically, and waiting til September won’t make him “heal more” at this point, that’s not how brain injuries work. So the only other option would be retiring forever - clearly Fil doesn’t want to do that.

Barring another setback, he’s playing in Round 1.

I don’t think Wennberg plays a 4th line role on this team. He’s too smart of a matchup type forward. He’s a special teams guy on both sides

With that said chytil can play pretty much anywhere in the top 9 so it provides even more flexibility.

It hasn’t been tried yet other than the first practice I believe but Wennberg may even be an option with Mika and you could roll with Cuylle - Chytil - Kakko (kid line revised)

Its fun to think that the second injury in practice when he fell was a huge ruse to buy him more healing time and also Drury more cap space for the run. Chytil was weirdly happy in his season ending presser.

We will never know.

Either way, you gotta think they have the kids health at the forefront - but honestly, he wouldn't be practicing in full a week before playoffs if he didnt have a very good shot to play and contribute. Just MHO
I had that nagging feeling in the back of my mind. NO ONE SAW WHAT HAPPENED. Not even a single player talked about what happened so far as I saw. He supposedly tripped and fell and …. was put on LTIR allowing Drury cap space for a couple of moves. I really think they just decided out of caution and cap concerns to shelf him for the regular season. Think about it: if he played games and had a setback after the TDL we would have been screwed. This was a safer bet.
I honestly think the last setback never happened.

there was no need for any ruse, if the guy was having concussion issues then LTIR was where he belonged anyway
