Who's the other guy in the photo?

Hope it's a shooting coach.

He's working out and skating/practicing. Maybe the team just is giving him the proper rest?

Certain fighting commissions medically suspend fighters from competing after a 'concussion'. Maybe they are following something similar. There really isn't a need to rush him and when you take into consideration how often he has been concussed, it's an easy decision.

He does have a mouth breathers chin tbh. Does he have breathing issues? Maybe @Amazing Kreiderman can get close enough to listen to him breathe

Medical suspensions in MMA are normally 6 months for KO's. The NHL does not have a similar protocol and theres a reason for that. Fighters get hit in the head whether it be in competition or during live sparring. The big shots aren't necessarily the worry here, it's the accumulation of damage (even small jolts build up, this is why we've seen CTE develop in avid jet skiers via the constant bumping up and down on the water) and the fear of "second impact syndrome" that they want to eliminate. We've seen guys get KO'd cold in the NHL and come back within a month - That should wouldn't fly in MMA.

Allowing him to go home was more likely a mental reset. Thats probably the bigger battle here as he's been active for a while now and continues to be active (which would lead one to believe that he's had no setbacks, so the brain is probably healed up.)

Also ones chin has nothing to do with their level of oxygen intake. If that were the case you'd never accuse Fox for being out of shape #themoreyouknow

It doesn't hurt for contact leagues to start taking extra precautions for concussed players.

If he's mouth breathing it does affect oxygen levels. I said it somewhat in jest because he does have mouth breather features

2. The Instagram post a couple of days ago by Filip Chytil of a picture of the smiling No. 72 on the ice with his trainer and Jaromir Jagr following a workout in Czechia leads me to believe that the centerman will return to New York in the not too distant future to ramp up for a return to active duty.

This is just me, but I think that Chytil will be back during the Jan. 28-Feb. 4 bye period/All-Star break and start to practice with the team in short order, presuming he is medically cleared.

Gotta hope this ends up like a Crosby/Mika situation where a guy has a few of these and it becomes a hit of a topic and then before you know it it’s a “remember when?”
If I remember correctly, while he did suffer concussions, it was the crack in his first and second cervical vertebrae that was extending his time away from the ice. The penguins medical staff didn't find it despite all the complaining about neck soreness he did. Once that was successfully taken care of and healed, he was able to get back on the ice and play at a top level.

I see we’ve resorted to phrenology in our player evaluations.

And it means just as much when Brooks says it and a poster says it. It's all idle speculation based on a social media post with no real information to back it up. My two takeaways from that statement are (1) Chytil gets back when he gets back, and (2) Brooks is a joke.

Both takes are correct, but I’d imagine that skating/practicing in full pads would be a late stage recovery activity.

Chyt's return ticket date is at the ASG. So the guy I listen to said citing a source.

That picture was a positive sign that things are progressing in his recovery. The team has been extremely cautious with injuries this year and with good reason. I have nothing to back this up but my gut says we see him shortly after ASG and what a welcome addition he would be.
