Brod played under 8 minutes at five on five, and him and Cuylle led the team in XGF%. He’s a fill in who won’t be on the playoff roster.

Vally is way off base. He sounds like he posts on this board.
He lets his emotions and the goalie union get in his way sometimes.

The goalie gave up 4 goals on a night the team played well and he's scrambling to explain it away.

I'm not blaming it all on Quick. He was fine. He made some big saves. He also, you know, gave up 4 goals. It happens sometimes. It's an ok thing to have happened. Like I always say, there doesn't need to be grand design on everything in hockey.

The goalie was ok, the team was good, and we still gave up 4 because sometimes that's life. He's trying to compute it, and it needs not be computed.

yup. more frustrated than angry. we were the better team. we’ve had a lot of these types of games on the other side. it happens.
We might have been the better team, maybe, but I find it hard to find any "good" in the way they had defensive and zone exiting meltdowns. Any team would have been able to take advantage, not just a good team like Florida.

We play the exact same game against any squad, even Chicago, and you are looking at more losses than wins. The Rangers *are* better than that.

He’s right. He basically was saying it was a pond hockey or beer league game from both teams, and bad mistakes were made on both sides. And that you won’t win like that in the playoffs

It was a bad and sloppy game too often

Actually this PGT has been way more civil than I expected.

I excepted every other post to be about how we didn't want it enough.
I think they wanted it alright. Their offensive pressure was pretty on point.
Vally's point about the pond hockey thing is right though: we have played the tough "playoff" style (whatever that means) games very well this year, and won pretty much all of them. The only pure track meet that we won and I didn't like it was the first against Boston.

This Ranger team can go very far if they slow the game down.

If the rangers play like that against Chicago they score 7 lol

These games happen all the time in the playoffs.

There was a 7-2 game and a 9-3 game in the Finals.

The Stars are seen as a tidy, contending team and they scored or gave up 6 goals every other game in the playoffs.

Go back and look at the scores from last year. 5, 6, 7 goal scores from teams all over the place. The game has changed.

Rangers play better when it's not wide open.

Idk, in 7 games against the Devils we had like 2 expected goals the whole series and I hated that.

Generation was a bigger problem under Gallant than suppression was.

I like that we can generate. We never had games like this last year where we were staying in it because we can get chances. If we had breakdowns we would just get our asses kicked.

Rangers breakdowns tonight were more than Florida's breakdowns. Hence, the loss. And our breakdowns were bad enough that yes, even Chicago scores on them. Don't emulate this game. Emulate the game we beat TOR, or LA.

He's acting like the playoffs are next week and he was over analyzing like this was game 7. It's late December during a holiday week. 2 good teams were a little loose but it wasn't a bad game by either. It was entertaining. That happens sometimes.

I like this team *this year* enough that we have the talent and plan to break through. FWIW I still think NJD beats the Rangers in 7 this year. Regardless if NJD makes the playoffs or not.

This is also a pure rush team, so they have to play this style to generate their chances.

When we play tight is when this board starts talking about being boring.
There's always something to complain about.

If NJD doesn't make the playoffs and we do, Jersey will kick our asses in their dreams.

They probably do. They're one of the best 5v5 teams in the NHL like they were last year.

They have a legit cheat code on their roster and we don't. I'm not sure what we can do about that besides hope we avoid them.

If we're going to lose to them, I'd rather lose a fun series to them than get shutout 9 times in 7 games like we did last year.
