True, this was an awful game to watch. I don't know what happened in 2006, but the 2002 run and gun Olympics were much better. The officials now are allowing more clutching and grabbing. Still no excuse for an allstar team like Canada to get shutout in consecutive games.

The larger is more conducive to lower scoring games, the Olympic rinks need to be re adjusted to NHL standards.

I think the big key for Canada is getting the first goal of the game from now on. After the Finns and Swiss got the first goal they played an extremely effective traplike strategy that really puzzled Canada. Nonetheless, Finland played a good smart game today and probably deserved to win although I'd say Canada outplayed them especially in the final two periods.

Are you people ready to admit I was right?

By picking his cronies Gretzky just did the nation of Canada a world of harm.
HMMM I think this team needs more grinders.

Hopefully, the next time when Gretzky picks up the phone and asks Crosby to play, Crosby doesn't hang the phone up on his ***.

You know, this team looks inferior to the team that lost to the Czechs in Nagano. At least in that infamous game, Hasek had to be all-world.

Congratulations for the Finns, but I'm sure they will not win all games here at the Olympics. They will catch a bad day and I hope it will be against Germany, because it wouldn't matter to loose this match.

So hopefully they loose against them and win the rest, because it will count up to the game against USA.

For Canada they have to find a way to score. Already 2 hours without a goal, that is really not normal for Canada.

Yeah, we need more grinders. To protect those 2-0 deficits.

Props to Niittymaki for sticking it to the 'injured' goalies back home. Kiprusoff and Lehtonen might not even even get asked next time 'round.

I honestly think Nittymaki should give those two traitors, Kipprusoff and Lethonen, a call and RUB it in for good measure... :biglaugh:

You may be right. This is the Olympics, not All-Star weekend. You can't put a bunch of scorers in the line-up and ask them to play roles that other Canadians would be better suited to play.

Defense looked like they're really confused. Isn't it Jacques Martin's job to organize the defense? It doesn't seem to be working to far. Pronger has been **** the whole tournament. Offense needs to work better as a team. The players have to show up for 60 minutes.

Gotta love having a team with bunch of PF's that plays a perimeter game. Not too mention dumping it in and not even coming close to getting it back.

That said the Finns look good. Real good. Why Nitty isn't the #1 in Philly is beyond me.

Finland is a truly excellent team and deserved to win. However, I'm still not too worried as a Canadian fan as there was some definite improvement in our game. Despite our abysmal 1st period, I thought we played pretty well and improved in a few areas. Our forwards started backchecking for once and helping out the defensmen and stopped trying to be too fancy on the offensive side The Finnish tender played great and our guys are a bit snakebitten, but the goals will come. I'm just thankful we have 5 games to work out all the kinks.

BTW, did they use NHL or international sized rinks in Salt Lake City? I seem to remember it being big ice, but it was in North America so I'm not positive.

Ask Russia how to do... and Sweden or Slovakia... even Finland.
USA and Canada are failing to adjust. They're trying to use their own way of play (working along the boards, physical) and it's just not the way of playing on this size.

Man, what a limp looking team. Too many of the guys who were supposed to be big contributors have been invisible. And what possible excuse could there be for not even showing up for the first period? I mean, right after getting embarrassed by Switzerland, they come out and start the next game by playing like they're drunk? Way to make a statement, gang. Losing, I could handle... but the way they played in the first period was just disappointing.

Finland was very impressive in every facet of the game. They looked like a team with a chip on their shoulder.

Yes an 18 year old will change the hockey team's fortunes single handedly. If we had Crosby, he'll score a million goals and stop every shot and does every single thing that'll get us the gold medal. :speechles
