What happens if you pick less than 12?

If I pick less than 12, I get to pick earlier in the draft. Like let's say I only choose 10 players as my keepers, then I get to pick my 11th and 12th round keeper before the last place team makes their first real pick (13th round). Bad teams will use this strategy to try and upgrade their keepers.

Also thanks Samco for your thoughts on my keeper situation. Much appreciated! Interesting that you included Joe Ross on that list. Is he worth a keeper spot in a 12 team league?

My AL Only roto team fell apart injury wise for this last week. Kluber/Pomeranz out with injuries on top of previous ones with Wright/Skaggs. Kluber getting pulled early last game and Andrew Miller (on my rival's team) getting the win was a two point swing.

Unfortunately my rival lucking out with Gary Sanchez will probably be the difference. Oh well, 2nd place money here I come.

I don't know what I'm gonna do next year with Posey and Sanchez. Sell high on Gary or go for a King's ransom with Buster? Hmm..

Personally, I would shop both and see what kind of offers you get and let that be the deciding factor. Both are top tier at the C position and with the market being thin, I think you'd be able to command a king's random for either.

Posey will hit for the better AVG and will probably score more runs. Sanchez will likely hit for more power. You need to take into account what helps your team more.

It's strictly points league and I don't see anyone overtaking Buster as the #1 option so I think he would net the higher return. No one came close to him this season and he's had a down year. I will aim for Trout and work my way down!

I'd definitely look to trade Posey. He's going to be 30 when next season starts and could start declining in 2-3 years. He's spent lots of time behind the plate.

3 teams. 1 win and 2 exits in the semis (one as a #1 seed, the other as #4 seed).

Playing in a keeper league where we keep three players but only one dynasty player, the other two can only be kept for one season then they have to go back into the pool or be traded.

My dynasty keeper has been Kershaw, but I was considering switching over to Betts and trying to trade Clayton this offseason. Then I got an offer of Bryant for Betts, and I took it. Good idea?

Betts' legs give him more value but does Bryant make up for it with his value at the position? Maybe I just prefer Betts. My guess is they're pretty even.

Bryant and Betts are close, but I give the edge to Bryant because you could play him at third.

What's the scoring format? I think I'd prefer to have Betts myself. He was the highest scorer in my league.

Head-to-head, five offensive categories. I admit to preferring Betts because of his work on the basepaths - steals is one category.

This is kind of what I figured. Again, I prefer Betts but feel like this is going to be a fine deal.

12 team league where we get 6 keepers.

Scoring is standard 5x5 (R, Avg, HR, RBI, SB x SVs, Ks, Ws, ERA, WHIP)

Guys I am for sure keeping are Machado, Altuve, Scherzer, and Adam Jones.

I've got a few guys I'm considering for my final 2 spots:

David Price
Zach Britton
Dellin Betances
Troy Tulowitzki
Todd Frazier
Jonathan Lucroy
Justin Turner

Right now I think I'm leaning towards Price and Betances. I generally don't like keeping relievers but Betances offers more than your average reliever thanks to his strikeouts and normally fantastic ERA and WHIP (although this season he wasn't as stellar in those areas).

What do you guys think?

I can understand that, though I might keep Britton instead. His ERA was absurd this year lol.

Letting the other 4 walk is understandable. You've got Machado for 3rd or SS and he's better than Turner, Frazier, and Tulo. Lucroy is good too but if you can replace him with a decent everyday catcher you should be ok. I'm so glad I've never had to scour the waiver wire for crap catchers every week.

I appreciate the responses.

While I do really like the idea of Lucroy, our league has 4 OF slots. OFs are generally difficult to come by via trade or waivers so that's why I like Jones. That said, I think Lucroy may be a better value given that he finished #1 on the ESPN player rater at catcher.

I finished second in my league this past season losing in the Finals 3-7. I feel like my team just needs a good redraft next season to take the next step so I want to capitalize on keepers to insure that.

I have a lot of time to decide but just thought I'd float the question out here so I appreciate your feedback.

Probably also worth noting, just for a little background, I made a major trade midseason that at the time I thought was trading future assets for present.

I traded: Jake Lamb, Johnathan Villar, and Michael Fulmer
I got: David Price and Jonathan Lucroy

At the time most in the league thought I won huge. This trade occurred in mid-June but even with Lamb's terrible 2nd half, Villar and Fulmer wound up strong the rest of the way while Price stayed pretty average, though Lucroy dominated. Overall I'd say it was an even trade.
