The team is built by a GM who likes shiny objects and an organization that hasn’t hired a proven NHL coach since Brian Murray.
They have skill but an utter lack of cohesion and seriousness. It will be a very long season.

Tell me, what other teams are rolling 3 high price LD in their top 4S? I feel like we have made lots of strong acquisitions but it obviously does not fit at the moment. Trades are needed to dial in the roster.

Nobody does that better than Drake Batherson. Same floating style, same horrible plus/minus, same minimal impact on games when we need him.

I think they both need a new coach, and a new HC to let Tkachuk just be a power forward and not have to be the teams emotional beacon every night.

I do think a new coach would help but also Chabby, Chych and Sandy all on the same side just makes no sense.


I have seen hiw awkward Chabby is on the right. Him and Chych struggle to get the puck to eachother.

Chabot on the Bruins would be great! I think the Leafs would love to get their hands on Batherson, hard to not be attracted by that kind of contract so basically every team would go after him if available

3 losses in a row including a loss at home to the Coyotes. Maybe the state of affairs is not entirely DJ’s fault, maybe (with the exception of 3-4 guys) the team is just bad. What a mess!!

Rebuilding in Canada is very hard. Most players have Canadian teams on their NTC's/NMC's and more often than not UFA's would rather sign in the US. The Oilers were gifted one of the greatest players ever and to this point we haven't won anything with him. Keep up the good fight, keep the core together and try to continue drafting and developing players. Not much else that can be done given the current environment in the NHL IMO.

Not sure what to do. The goaltending sucks ass and the underlying numbers aren’t bad but they just dissapear when there is an oppurtunity to do something in an important game. They’re just mentally week and blame bounces.

Everyone other than Stu, Sanderson, Pinto, and maybe Zub should be on the table at this point. We can talk about Brady’s leaderahip qualities but he’s done literally nothing in this league and chooses to take it out on fans when his team sucks.

I’ll believe when I see it. Until I see this team win games when it matters I’m fine with making 80% of this team avilable for trade.

People saying it's so difficult to do in Canada - I don't entirely agree. We were headed for what looked to be a fairly good rebuild (albeit we didn't get lucky with a superstar) if not for the absolute, complete disregard for asset management the past 3 years. With the first rounders and second rounders handed out like candy, most teams would have been able to secure a starting goalie and a good top 4 RD. At the very least.

Instead I see the team more or less being a borderline/middle of the pack team until the inevitable rebuild 2.0 happens in 3-5 years.

Ya, not sure how you can lay any blame on Canada being tougher to rebuild in here, it's not Canada's fault Dorion traded away 7oa for a guy that didn't want to be here and it's not Canada's fault that Dorion has twice given out monster contracts to terrible goalies.
