I thought he played a solid NHL debut game. He looked like he belonged out there. I don't know what the Bruins plans for him are- if this is just a taste of the NHL so he can get some perspective on what he needs to keep working on in Providence or he stays up for a while and acclimates himself. I do think he eventually needs to be on a more skilled line, or at least a line that isn't centered by Trent "Ghost' Frederic.
Once Frederick is traded, Poitras can be on that line with Lysell :)

What is amazing to me is how some media fell a sentence short of calling him a bust and are now singing praises.
Many weren’t even a sentence short. The podcasts this summer were absolutely brutal on him. One in particular seems to have a very harsh agenda with him because he’s not Patrick Brown 2.0 👀

Pasta is a 50 goal scorer, that said i thought Lysell played ok tonight

Really? What's the difference? How about 60 Goals and 120 Points thru their D+3 seasons...lol.
I get that.

But a turnover is a turnover. If we're blasting a kid who just had his first game why not blast Pasta for the same thing? Feel I can count on both hands how many times Pasta gives the puck away each game with bonehead plays this season.

This team lacks offensive skill & guys that can carry the puck into the O zone. Give him a leash and let him play his game. Mistakes will happen, he'll learn from them. And hey, maybe we'll get to see a few more nice plays this year as opposed to the most boring hockey team we've got to watch so far.

played well I thought, made a strong play behind the Jackets net which lead to the goal

Always get a kick seeing a kids family in the stands for their first NHL game too, Mrs Odaat commented on how gorgeous his girlfriend was and I said "hope his sister isn`t his girlfriend" :)

Weird that he’s only 21. Some of the takes on him suggest he’s on the wrong side of 30 chasing an NHL dream.

Oh it's been absolutely stupid at times. Many acted like if he wasn't Connor McDavid and putting up points at 18 in the NHL he was a waste of space. Never mind others saying he was just 19 playing in the rough and tumble AHL, or 20. It's as if the kid couldn't have a normal prospect trajectory for some reason and I don't get that at all. It's not as if he was ever called "generational" or was even a top 10 pick.

I could be completely soured on Frederic now lol. I didn't think he was terrible, just didn't notice him much- which is fine for a shutdown D man, not so much for a forward who is needed to supply grit and secondary scoring. But not to bash Trent- maybe playing with a speedy skilled guy like Lysell will get him going if the Bruins keep him up. I want to see more of what Lysell can bring to an offensively challenged club.
That is the probleme with Frederic, we should notice him every shift or most shift, he s a power forward who need to hit people, go hard in the corners, battle in front of the net, step up for his team mates, but we dont see this and i dont think he s interested do so...

well said, also recall that at one point, last year or maybe the year before, he was called out by his coaching staff for trying to do too much on his own. Then a month or so later, that same coaching staff really spoke highly about how he began focusing on play away from the puck and using his teammates more

Seems to be a kid willing to listen, learn then work on things

Pastrnak was a very similar prospect profile (electrifying winger playing in Sweden that fell in the draft) and I think him having such early success put unfair expectations on Lysell

imagine if he played with half the heart of a Kastelic? Hell, I`ll take Keopke`s effort shift in and out before Freddy`s. I don`t expect Frederic to produce every game but he has many of the same issues we saw with Debrusk, games being played where I didn`t even know he was dressed he was that invisible

I`d move his ass out personally and see what I could get for him, bring Poitras back up afterwards and let the chips fall where they may

Yeah imagine the line with a Freddy and Kastelic as 2 power forwards, could be just wow, but Freddy dont want to go there, i think everybody see the same issue with 11 and the fact that Poitras playing great to Prov and built some great chemestry with most guy he played, we re gonna see him sooner than later, and could be a good duo with Lysell. Freddy had his to best 2 seasons under Monty, so trade him to Blues he s a loacl boy, can Bruins can get a prospect like Jimmy Snuggerud?

The Bruins haven't had a forward capable of entering the zone with speed and passing ability since they traded Hall. It's a skillset the Bruins have missed, and throughout the season, they have looked like a better team when they enter the offensive zone cleanly. I'm looking forward to seeing him build off this game.

i've been checked out for a bit, missed a few games, but seemed odd they'd randomly
call up lysell late in the day like they did. and now he's back to providence (unless it's just
a paper move for today). seemed like something a team would do to showcase a guy.
or maybe they just needed more speed and skill in a lineup desperate for it.

If it’s not a paper transaction I hate them
Bruins generally haven't tweeted out roster transactions if they are just paper moves in the past IIRC. My best guess is that they knew Lysell's family was in town for the holidays and decided to give him a game while they could be in attendance. Don't really know what the point of only giving him one game where he's on the 2nd night of a b2b is otherwise.

Would obviously love if I was wrong and this is just a paper move though.

One and dones better than not promoting him at all. It was shocking he played last night in the first place.

Not gonna get hot and bothered over this just glad he got a game under his belt finally.

You know what though? I felt last night was Frederic's best game in awhile. Brazeau too. One of the things when you add a strong fast skater who can handle the puck to a line is it forces the other two forwards to skate faster/move their feet more, to keep up to the increased pace. Other than a couple turnovers, Lysell was able to play the game last night at an NHL pace and looked fairly comfortable and his two line-mates I felt benefitted from it. Some legitimate speed and skill may of been exactly what that 3rd line needed.

Third line has been at its best with puck transporters like Mojo or Hall.
