What about a 2nd line of Perron KK Tevo

we could possibly sign Perron for 3 years at around 4.5

not saying it would our first choice but he would be a solid veteran for KK and can still put the puck in the net. I’m just not sure of his speed, he could also pair with Staal and Fast too

One thing that everybody tends to forget about this FO is that they often like to keep a bunch of open cap space well into August and September, leading fans like us to whine and complain about the team "doing nothing", and then they strike. That's how Kotkaniemi became a Hurricane, actually.

Tro was a solid pickup for us for peanuts but he’s been awfully underwhelming in the playoffs the last few years and his play style doesn’t lend itself to him having a long healthy career. Let him go to the Rags, I honestly don’t think he’s an upgrade on Strome at all if that’s how it plays out.

ehhhhh i think they just missed on a ton of things and had a bunch of cap space left with no real option they liked. the offer sheet was the only one that made any sense and cost fewer assets to complete.

Agreed with everything but that last bit. He's a definite upgrade on Strome.

I don't really buy that narrative. I think that they wanted KK for a long time. You don't give an 8 year extension if you didn't have long-term plans with him in the organization. The offer sheet strategy was unusual, but I think that they always wanted the actual player and the Aho offer sheet gave them a really good excuse to do it.

Not sure I would make a judgement on this strategy yet. So far it's JK and Gardiner as the examples. Not very encouraging, to be honest.

Edit: Damn, @Big Daddy Cane beat me to it. He even out "encouraged" my vocabulary.

Gardiner and Kotkaniemi are not encouraging selling points.

Kotkaniemi was a 21 year old player...that's not a move that you can evaluate in a year's time...it's like the folks that are already trying to evaluate the Kirby Dach move. You're not going to know if either is a good or bad move until 4-5 years from now.

I want Klingberg and that's it.

With him and next step from Svech, KK, Jarvis and Drury, that's hell of a roster.
