No way he is ready this season. He is too weak physically. And that's the truth. He just couldn't play with his strenghts in smaller surface against more skilled, bigger and overall better players. I think he needs 2 summers to be ready for top6 spot in NHL. Of course I hope Im wrong. :)

He seems to have issues with consistency. Teräväinen has been great after WJC, but sometimes he looks like he is lazy for an entire period.

Not so sure...I just asked him today and he said

"I dont know yet. I have played good now but all my focus is in here now so dont know yet whats going on when my season ends here."

I have no way to know if you really know him and talk to him or not, but if the quote is true - it's the proper thing for him to say. His current responsibility is to Jokerit and his teammates and it's understandable that he is focused on the "now". It doesn't necessarily mean he has changed his intentions - just that it's not the proper time to be talking about when he will join another team when his current team is fighting for playoff position.

Seems like he mostly have issues at the start of the seasons which probably isn't a big problem because he has trained hard during the summers to gain strength + new line mates etc. At the beginning of the last season he was still learning to play C in FEL.

I'm not really sure weather it is him looking/being lazy or is it just his style of play. His current style of play could be problematic in NA. Not really sure are there many good centers in NHL that aren't able win board battles and are avoiding contacts, probably not. His other defensive attributes seems to get better and better though (poke and back checking, positioning etc.).

He was selected as the FEL player of the month in January and he is on 8 games point streak so having a minor slump for couple of shifts (for an entire period) isn't really something I would worry about that much.

0+2 against SaiPa tonight. He keeps on gathering them points.

Idk when will he play in blackhawks jersey, but he is the real deal. Would not be that surprised if he took 2nd center spot in hawks roster next year.

The TT scoring streak watch: 2 more (primary) assists in Jokerit's 4-2 win over SaiPa today. Streak is up to 10 games (2+16). He now has 35 points in 38 games which is tied for 11th in scoring (having played 6-10 games fewer than every player in the top-10 except for one). His 30 assists is one less than the assist leaders who have played 7 and 10 games more than TT.

Keep it rollin TT.

That is a word for word quote. I think over time I've proven that I know him, but I could verify to mods if they like.

OK - no problem.

Actually I like what he said. I think it shows good chatacter to be focused on the task at hand (trying to help Jokerit win) than thinking about what he may do in the future.

So what is TT like - his personality?

He's not a very outgoing person but he's quite and nice. He gets really excited when he plays with certain players...Filpulla and Karlsson joined his team for a bit I think and he wouldn't stop raving about them, specifically Karlsson. Also loves Patty Kane.

He's also pretty honest about stuff on the ice. Like he'll tell openly say he played like crap if he did.

Thanks Larry - that's good stuff. I think knowing a players personality helps to read him a bit.

Jokerit lost 2-4 to Ässät tonight, but Teräväinen's point streak is still going with 1 assist in tonight's game. Wonder if he can break to the FEL top5 in points this season:)

Agree he needs another year of strength training....On the other hand, Kane was a shrimp when he arrived...

Kane was no shrimp, and for a smallish guy he was feisty and more than capable to handle the physical game (Though his set of wheels helped). On top of that, Kane had top end talent and was on another planet in comparison to TT.

Umm no he was actually a shrimp and not feisty...I don't know where u are getting this.

Take a look at some of his draft pictures

Teravainen now is no smaller than Kane was entering the league. I don't remember Kane being terribly feisty, but I don't think he was too timid either.. especially as the year wore on.

Hmm, I've watched him play live a few times when he played for the Knights. He was Kariya smallish but certainly not a shrimp. And he did play with a chip on his shoulder from time to time, the main point I'm trying to make is he did not shy away when the play got physical.

No offense, but how does watching him play for the Knights, against Junior-aged players, compare to watching him in his rookie season, in the NHL, playing against men?

I watched Kane in London too. He could pretty much do whatever he wanted against that competition. On top of that, the entire line was dominant. If you were out their against Kane, Gagner and Kostitsyn that season, you would have counted your blessings if you made it back to the bench without ******** your pants.

You would do well to use the HF 'search function' to remind yourself how Kane was regarded on these boards (filled with brilliant minds! - lol) around his draft year. The idiot brigade was screaming loud that Kane would not be able to play after he was drafted b/c he was too small, too weak, etc.

No Hawks fan thinks Teuvo is the second coming of Kane.

What people point out is (1) the Hawks wanted to keep him on the team - maybe send him to Rockford, but his current contract was complicated; (2) despite what people claim about Teuvo being 'one dimensional' - Quenneville went out of his way to say he was happy about TT's defense - and at WJC TT played on Finland's penalty kill; (3) when TT got off to a slow start, Hawks scouts said, basically, they didn't really care, he looked fine; (4) it sounds like Jokerit was kinda garbage when it came to player skill/coaching...not TT's fault he didn't set the world on fire; (5) the Hawks have made it clear they see him as their 2c fit...and Q seems to like him already.

The Hawks organization seems happy about Teuvo and eager to welcome him into the team. The organization has been very good at identifying/developing young players. I, for one, can't wait to see him play.

the entire comparison is stupid.

...on an unrelated note...sometimes i think that people don't get how good kane has been for as long as he has been. he came out of NTDP 2nd in goals to only Kessel. He was a late b-day...which is why he did that year in London...and he was so dominant his draft year it was basically a joke. And played NHL the next year and, despite the claims he was 'too small' - had one of the easiest transitions to the NHL for a rookie i've ever seen.
