F Rodion Amirov (2020, 15th, TOR) - tragically passed away due to brain tumor 8/14/23

Amirov isn’t defensively responsible? It sounds like you haven’t watched him.

“Not close to NHL ready” he’s one of the most polished players outside of the top 10 from his draft. We’re talking a 1-2 year ETA max.

Maybe he means harder to play against due to size?

Watched him quite a bit, he's not bad defensively not saying that at all. But he's not nearly as good as Podz and is small and is someone who fits the mold of a top-six guy. I'm not putting him down and was quite complimentary but it's not like he dominated the KHL or MHL. This is such a common thing, you put all these expectations on a 18 year old kid who is not close to being able to play in the NHL and obviously Dubas and the rest agree since they are loaning him for the next 2 years.
Have you actually watched Podz play? I'm willing to bet anyone who follows the KHL would agree Podz is far more ready, hell you're own fanbase would pro only concede to that. And you do realize that their development is the same right? Podz missed the 2020 draft by like a Month. He has not had an extra year this was already gone over with a few of the Russians on here. They were in the same grade in school.

Exactly I wasn't putting him down just that Podz is a tank who excels in the greasy parts of the game and plays very physical and would be able to play in the bottom six and thrive even if he's doesn't put up points. I love your guy and thought Dubas stole him at 15.
He just needs to get stronger and start racking up the points in the K which im sure he will.
These two actually have great chemistry and are great friends, would have loved him here.

Amirov is 6'1" 185lbs according to his agent FYI. Hardly small.

Is this a Podkolzin thread? I couldn't care less about the Nucks next overhyped prospect.

Saying he has a 1-2 year ETA is hardly putting unreasonable expectations on the kid. The point of that post was to correct your mischaracterizations. He's not bad defensively and he's not small. Amirov's 6'1" and his defensive/transitional play are strong suits. And yes, he did dominate the MHL pre-draft.

Leafs got a good one in this guy. Not sure he's a top line nhler but he's gonna be a real solid 2 way middle 6 guy for sure imo.

He has very good footwork, plays a solid positional game, and his hockey IQ is seemingly very high. He can make things look effortless at times which is a sign of maturity.

As a sens fan, I'm not looking forward to cursing his name once or a thousand times haha

I think kids like him and Robertson will be given every chance to shine because of their low salaries--they will land in cozy roles with elite players by default.

On elite his contract says 23/24.

Is that when his KHL contract expires?

Are there any out clauses? D+4 rookie NHL year?

Give this kid and Robertson every chance to earn top-6 minutes in camp and preseason. We can use some young, affordable, enthusiastic kids who aren't tainted by playoff failure. As long as they are not complete liabilities in the neutral zone, or own end, their enthusiasm can be contagious. Both of them also have sweet mitts.
