F Nicholas Robertson - Peterborough Petes, OHL (2019, 53rd, TOR)

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
Remember all those posts about how ridiculous it was for Leaf fans to be hyped about camp videos thinking he might actually have a chance when he obviously doesn't?

If you want to throw a rookie into your starting lineup for the playoffs for his first pro NHL experience then be my guest lmao

I'll man up and while I never said it on HF I didn't think Robertson was going to make the team, but in my defence I totally forgot Johnsson was injured.

I firmly believe if Johnsson wasn't injured Robertson might not have even been called up

You might be right but Johnsson is, so Robertson was and if Robertson plays well Johnsson might find himself on another team this off season

And McAvoy, and makar.

Those aren’t good examples. Those guys were early first round picks, late birthdays, both guys starred at a higher level of hockey than junior. They were also both consensus top 5 prospects outside the NHL when they joined. I think it’s also asking a lot to think Robertson is the same level of hockey talent. McAvoy is a top 10 defensemen in the league and Makar will be soon enough.

That poster made no mention of where a prospect was drafted or when there Birthday was.

Not really sure why that matters either, tbh.

Well Robertson is in a very unique situation so you're not going to find an example that is exactly the same as his. I was just simply stating other players that had their first NHL games during the playoffs.

You normally can't have CHL players join the NHL during the season, let alone the playoffs.

Well considering he may play his way into that line-up, it may not be a terrible idea :)

As some may say, he's "right up there".

This isn't a trial game, this is a great ready game for the team that's playing. Using it to "see what you have" is a horrible idea and any coach doing that should be lambasted. Even stars need to get back into it, you want everyone rolling hot. If Nick Robertson proves he should be on the team,he should play on that game,if not wait until training camp.

The birthday matters because they were both old for their draft. Makar didn’t even join after one season of college hockey. He joined after two. Meanwhile, Robertson was one of the youngest players in his draft. Also, you don’t often see second round picks play in the NHL prior to their D+2 season. I think he should’ve been a first round pick, but it’s asking a lot of the player. I don’t know if there are even more than 1-2 non-firsts in recent memory that played in the NHL prior to their D+2 season.

Once again, no mention of birthday by the original poster, so whether you feel that's important or not, is irrelevant.
