Dude is the exact type of player the Leafs need. Super talented, high motor, and has some pest to him.

Sucks he broke his finger

oh - the S word. that is approximately 150 potential steals in this draft according to HFBoards - has to be a record.

Welcome to fans having fun watching their players and dreaming of their potential. Congratulations on being so....even-keeled? Give yourself a pat on the back and have a cookie.

As for Robertson, which wing is he playing on this season?

Also, is he Jason Robertson's bother? Jason was one of my favourite players to watch in the OHL a couple years ago. Bit of a wonky stride but everytime the puck came near him you expected a quality chance. His shot was something.

IMO a definite steal, just saw the highlights of the Sweden game, 2 goals and an assist and star of game I do believe, , makes scoring look so easy, I'm not good with comparisons, but anyone see a bit of Martin St. Louis in him? Cant wait for the WJC to see what he can do!

I agree with seeing some MSL in him.

It's only pretournament but still. Also, I'm pretty sure he one of the youngest kids in the tournament

He's the youngest on the Americans, but there are quite a few younger guys in the tournament for example Byfield, Raymond, Lafreniere, Drysdale. I think the youngest player there for a major team is Raty. But, I don't think a single 16 year old made it this year. Occasionally, there is one or two (Dahlin, Zacha, McDavid, and Hischier in previous years for example).

I wouldn’t take it to mean that much. Two of the four returning skaters sat out yesterday. We’ll know about the captain and assistants eventually, but right now it’s all speculation.

It still means something, considering the players the USA have in camp and being the youngest on the team. He was still chosen over those remaining players, it says something.

Robertson's progression definitely takes the sting out of not having a 1st rounder last year. He's trending better than quite a few chosen in the 1st round.

Definitely. As long as we can keep churning out NHL players year after year to fill out our bottom 6 with entry level deals, we'll be just fine. It's not like we have any room in our top 6 for the next five years or so anyway. The days of crappy Leaf drafting seems to be a thing of the past. We've been making some great picks even in the late rounds lately. Looks like four years in a row we've turned a late round pick into an nhler (Brown, Johnsson, Engvall, Timashov). That's key to success. Otherwise you're wasting decent picks every year to bring in 4th line players at the deadline (Boyle, Plekanec, etc.).

Anyone excited about this game is in for a treat because that was honestly a meh performance from Robertson.

That was his patented toe-drag snipe on the goal and great patience on the assist but all-around, he was actually fairly quiet by his standards.

(Before any Leaf fans freak out, this is actually a compliment)
good to hear :thumbu:
him, Brink, Pinto, Beecher and Jones impressed me for the states

If he pans out, him next to Matthews and Marner will be scary.
