The disparity between the two is really weird. Nick is a small guy who will break through a wall to win and be better. Jason is a big guy who tends to be lackadaisical. The only real commonality is there questionable skating and their skill level.Really liked watching him play today. Wish his brother played with that tenacity (still glad to have him though).
If he pans out, him next to Matthews and Marner will be scary.
Crazy to think it’s only 3 months of hockey since the draft and he’s already no doubt the steal... yet here we are.Habs fan here, right now he is the steal of the draft for me, cant believe you got a such player late second round... I wish Caufield had his explosiveness...
Anyone excited about this game is in for a treat because that was honestly a meh performance from Robertson.
That was his patented toe-drag snipe on the goal and great patience on the assist but all-around, he was actually fairly quiet by his standards.
(Before any Leaf fans freak out, this is actually a compliment)
It is obvious you are not a Leafs fan with your oft-hyperbolic posts. If you would stop masquerading as one to invite negativity on Leafs prospects, it would much appreciated.Elite prospect. Tourney MVP dark horse.
Again this isn't a bad performance from Robertson but it doesn't look like he's gelling with his linemates. But it doesn't seem like he's the problem so again, this isn't a negative thing towards Robertson.
Wahlstrom especially seems like a possession killer. He doesn't use his teammates and just skates into traffic. (Edit- literally just happened to open the 3rd period as I posted this) On the breakout, Robertson is putting himself in good position to get the puck and he wants it but nobody is giving it to him. The D want to skate it up and then dump it.
Maybe they need some line juggling? Because it seems like a couple of their lines just aren't clicking.

I felt a bit bad for Robertson & Pinto playing with Wahlstrom but honestly that's why I like this pick so much for Toronto, he's going to fit their style of play.
Pinto & Robertson spent so much effort regaining & maintaining possession and then Wahlstrom would just give it up with a bad shot or trying to skate through 2 guys to get to the net.
I can't believe USA had a tournament that underwhelming and Sandelin didn't juggle the lines at all.
Yeah, he’s just 3 goals off the OHL’s top scorer (Kaliyev with 31), despite having played in just 26 of the Pete’s 42 games. Have been impressed every time I’ve watched him in the OHL and internationally, just a total puck hound, great motor, elite shot and great nose for the net. His skating may not be elite for someone who’s 5’9”, but he’ll still be a good skater at the NHL level. It’s not hard to imagine him becoming a Gallagher type. For me he’s right there with Sandin in the “top Leafs prospect” argument, and a bit ahead of Liljegren. This kid is still playing at over a goal per game pace. If he can keep this up, this is going to be one extremely impressive season. I know it's only 26 games, but you have to go all the way back to the mid 90's to find a player that topped the rate he's currently scoring goals at:
Most Goals per Game in One Season by OHL Players
Even if this kid was a one dimensional soft sniper there'd still be reason to be excited about him with that goal scoring ability. The fact that he plays with so much energy and grit in addition to the goal scoring is just a cherry on top and will allow him to succeed in the NHL even if he can't crack a top 6 role.
He will need a really big summer getting stronger and improving his skating. I'm expecting another year in the OHL.Think he has a legit chance of cracking the Leafs next year. What the Leafs do with Kapanen and Johnson probably will be a deciding factor

The main reason might be the cap. On D, Dermott is an RFA, Muzzin is a UFA I expect us to try to keep, Barrie and Ceci are UFAs I expect us to let walk. But regardless, we may be real tight against the cap trying to put a solid D together.Agreed, there's 0 need to rush him. He can have another full year of adding strength, another World Junior tournament where I'm sure he'll play a huge role & potentially a leadership role, and given Peterboroughs roster I'm sure he'll be traded to a contender in the OHL at some point.
Toronto has enough forward depth that there's no need to waste a year of development trying to force him into the lineup.

I mean Debrincat just scored a goal per game in 16-17 -- but yes Robertson is very impressive, and if he continues the pace it'll be extremely impressive. This kid is still playing at over a goal per game pace. Point 28. Rasmus Sandin agreed to a contract with no performance bonuses, knowing it would be easier to reach the NHL quicker for cap-tight Toronto. You know who else structured their contract similarly? Nick Robertson.
