Yes, injuries are a setback. Missed development time is a setback. Setbacks prevent you from reaching your potential in a limited time frame. Seems like common sense that doesn't need to be hashed out but evidently not to your regular garden-variety hockey fan on the internet. You are basically saying a bust is never a bust, just a "delayed prospect". How does it make any sense in your mind?It delays his hopes by one year. Seems like common sense that doesn't need to be hashed out. He does not appear to be less of a prospect because of it, just a year older. What point are you trying to make? How does it make his hopes worse? Did he stop developing?
The post you quoted was written 9 months ago when he was still showing at least some signs of life. He is currently in the midst of the worst professional season of his career, now struggling to be an impact player even at the 2nd tier of Russian hockey. I think that's a pretty good proof he has "stopped developing" at the rate anywhere near the potential NHL player.
