I saw on Elite Prospect that he has 4 pts in his last 5 games and 9 pts in his last 10.

It's in the Liiga?

If it's the case he'll be in every team's conversation for #2 overall.

Scouts love to see a prospect grow his game throughout his draft year

He'd be my choice at #2.

Ever since his Olympic run he's looking like the #2. His countrymate also seems to be a challenger.

Yeah, it’s Liiga and 3 playoff games too, so he is looking more and more like a big game player every day.

IMO his today´s assist was his first secondary point of the season and it´s April :)
All his Olympic points(goals) and Liiga points were primary until now which only can increase quality of his season.

I can’t see him NOT going # 2/3 .Which really sucks as my Devils need a player like him in a major way. Him Hughes and Bratt would destroy teams

After Olympics he's been producing like an early first rounder and the Olympics performance obviously was very strong. A bit better pre-draft performance than Puljujärvi's, and he went 4th. This draft also is weaker than 2016, I'd say.

Right now, looking like 3rd overall, I'm not sure about chances for second. In order for an European winger to be drafted over a North American center they need to be quite a bit better.

Good to see Slafkovsky producing after that crazy good performance during the Olympics. The size and talent have always been there, but I was worried about his production in the Liiga. You need to see that consistency and improvement during the course of the season, and he's carried that into his league play after the Olympics. I would definitely have him as my number 3 pick at the moment for the Habs. Obviously if Jiricek comes back after his injury and sets the world on fire, that may skew my opinion slightly.

No Offense but I hope Habs will not choose him. It is not quite good destination for player's development and the fans have always big expectations and no patience.

I think with the new management they will be much more patient with their young players. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they leave him another season in Finland (regardless of how he plays in training camp) or perhaps have him play in Laval (AHL) to get used to the AHL game. Caufield, Suzuki and Romanov have been developing just fine.

I want this kid. But only if we let him marinate overseas a bit.

The way we handled KK was a joke and everybody and their dog knew it outside of our management

What does it mean "quite better"?
It just means that if it's close teams will pick the center which is perceived as the more valuable position and more difficult to find, so the difference needs to be large enough for it to not really be close.

Yeah I hope that they don't rush Slafkovsky to NHL before he's ready, for Kotkaniemi it definitely wasn't great for his development, who knows where he could be now.

They don't need anyone there. Mercer belongs there. Maybe on the 2nd line with Hischier.
Slafkovsky-Hughes-Holtz
Bratt-Hischier-Mercer

That would be a sick top #6 for years to come. He's my #1 option for the moment with Jiricek being my #2 option, who would look amazing alongside Luke Hughes and both guys have the potential to be a menace of a pairing for the next decade.

I don't think there's a wrong pick between Slafkovsky and Jiricek.

Yes. Devils don't desperately need centres so they can go after a winger or a defenseman if they consider them to bpa. And there are a multitude of centres in the 2023 draft if they decided they need another one.
If Hughes misses games now that 2nd line should be then 1st line.

Late risers have been performing well in the last couple drafts. McTavish and Seider looking like good picks. One thing I really like about Slafkovsky is his puck protection, kind of like Rantanen or Draisaitl. He doesn't have the hands of those players though, and whichever team drafts him needs to take a patient course for development.

Still think Jiricek would be a better pick.
